Title: Been gone for awhile...but back
Post by: Nina on October 07, 2018, 06:50:55 PM
Hello all!!
Doubt I made any impressions prior to leaving Susan's...and all social media for at least a year...maybe two? Dunno.
Anyhow, I'm Nina.
Last time I was on, I lived in Ottawa, Ontario.
I just passed my 4th anniversary having had GRS with Dr. Brassard. Can't believe it's been 4 years...wow!
My hubby and I sold our house in Ottawa and moved nearly 10 hours north. We have dreamed of moving off-grid. Our closest neighbours are miles away. We derive all our electricity via solar, our appliances on propane, and even simplified life with just a compost toilet lol.
It's beginning to feel like winter here, first snow fell today.

In other news, I've been preparing and training for 2019 - I'm hiking the famed Appalachian Trail. Will be leaving Canada in April, and hope to accomplish the thru hike in 4-5 months.

Other than that, life is good, am settled now.
It's been 10 years now since I came out as Nina, and thus far, it's been super easy. Heck, I've now finally shed what was a hurdle for me - being seen in public with makeup. I haven't worn makeup in about five months. And yet, without the makeup, it's "ma'am" this or "ma'am" that.

Anyhoooo....hello one and all.

Hi Nina!  I joined after you left on your hiatus but I remember you well.  "Doubt I made any impressions prior to leaving Susan's."  You certainly made good impressions.

Wow what a change your life has taken!  Are you concerned about being so isolated further up north?  Hiking the Appalachians should be an exciting adventure.  You'll have to keep us informed about your progress, in training and on your journey.

Welcome back!  Hugs.

Hi Judi
Not worried one iota about the isolation. While we love the solitude, we do go to town every couple weeks for groceries, gas, and other odds and ends. After living in the Arctic as well as living in a small town, I love it.
Yeah, pretty stoked about hiking the Appalachian Trail. I got the hiking bug from "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed. She had demons from the past and a lot of stuff on her mind...which is why I believe my hike of some 2,200 miles will give me pause to think and reflect on life. I have zero regrets,  but life is moving too fast. Hoping to slow it down a bit and smell the flowers.

☺️

good luck on your long Appl. Trial hike, for those I have talked too 4-5 mo is about short a time one can hike it in.
