Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Hey just wanted to say hi 😊
So Lauren here! I'm new to the community and have only recently come to terms with the fact that I'm transgender to the point that I'm in the very early stages of starting my transition (i.e. speaking to a therapist, experimenting with clothing, etc) in fact even the name Lauren is a new change I'm trying with a small (but expanding 😊) circle of friends that I've come out to.
I'm from a relatively small rural town in Wales, UK and I don't know any other trans people at all so I thought online would be a good place to make some friends in the community who may hopefully be able to offer some advice/words of encouragement from time to time.  :)

But yeah a little about me :) I'm 27, love to ski and snowboard when I'm not chilling with a book or painting/drawing (badly 😶) and......yeah haha if anyone would like to say hi then feel free :) looking forward to getting to know you all!

I am from Australia but have been to wales for a bit when I was in England and loved it. I wasn't there for long but the short time did give me a chance toi sample the charm of the place. Could not follow a thing on your Television LOL.

So happy you got a little taste of Wales Liz 😊 I'd definitely recommend visiting to anyone who likes hikes in the rain and hard to follow television 😁😆 I'd much rather be living somewhere exciting like Australia tho! 😊 I've never been however I'm moving to New Zealand in a few months so will hopefully get a chance to hop on over while I'm there 😁

I'm in the UK now, working on getting a visa and moving here permanently. I'm planning on doing lots of traveling and exploring with my lovely partner Megan.  :)

I arrived September 20th. The London'y tourist stuff is out of the way, the Bedfordshire Clanger is out of the way, the Cornish pasty and Kendal mint cake are out of the way, I'm doing well!  :laugh:

Oh, and crumpets with Marmite!

You actually arrived in the country 7 days before me, I just got back from living in Canada so I'm still feeling like a tourist here myself haha!

Hey Lauren,

North Island - Beautiful beaches in the the far north of the north island, ninety mile beach, umm -- theres millions of nice beaches everywhere actually...lol  Dolphin watching at the 'bay of islands'.   Rotorua is a thermal activity town with geysers, bubbling mud, indigenous culture - IE Marae's to visit with traditional dance shows.  At the south end of lake taupo is 2 tall mountains/volcanoes you can trek up. Auckland city (where I live) has lots of volcanoes around the place - its a nice coastal city.  North Island has a lot of green farm land and is where you can visit 'hobbiton' film set from the movies - its very cute.
South Island has very majestic scenery, long mountain ranges, lakes, glaciers, tussock,  Queenstown and Wanaka are good places to visit. Fiordland is amazing with long treks through ancient forests. Lots of trekking through mountainous tussock as well.  Some amazing places with rock formation around the plains - you'll have to do a google search to find out where that is. Most of what people see in the Lord of the rings movies is South Island scenery.

I loved it there!  Later I had to do a lot of business in the UK, and was for weeks in a row in either London or Manchester.

I am originally from Germany, but I am 1/2 Dutch and 1/2 German.  This allows me to legally "go Dutch", or?  I am in the US for almost 45 years now, and it has become home for me.

The family of my wife was from Clitheroe in Lancashire.  Yes, I was married to a Brit, and her parents came from the UK.  And there we were, living in the US speaking English with a British/German/Dutch accent.  Can you be more cosmopolitan?

Cool.....I am an xpat Kiwi and if my own family wasn't here I would have gone back many years ago. I do miss it but then Australia has been very good for me.

Omg Sonja! I feel like I should give you money or something😆😆 It's like i hired a tour guide! 😁😊 I will for sure check out as much as I can :) I think for summer I'm gonna backpack around the north then head south for winter and settle in Wanaka or Queenstown for the ski season 😊 buuuuut... a plan that can't stand up to a little alteration isn't a good plan so we shall see 😁
