Title: HRT and acne

I have Hidradenitis Suppurative, an acne-like condition that results in painful boils along skin folds. I read that spironolactone is sometimes prescribed as a treatment, and since I'm planning to go on full HRT next year anyway, I'm hopeful that it will improve my Hidradenitis. I haven't spoken to my dermatologist just yet, but my trans specialist said that HRT often improves skin diseases as a side-effect. Anyone had any experience with this?

@Lucca
When I started HRT my skin was very clear to start with so I have no personal experience with the possibly positive effect of HRT helping to clear up acne....
...but I have heard from several sources that what you say is quite true, at least for some people...
Your dermatologist and your endo doctor would be the ones to confirm that for your specific complexion issues.

While I have never had what would be called a medical condition of acne, I have all my life suffered from pimples and occasional boils. I had very oily skin. I have been on HRT for one year, a T blocker and estrogen patches. The change in my skin is phenomenal! No more pimples or boils, smooth clear skin that has helped me feel younger and feminine. I can only hope the same for you!

Yes T-blockers are potent acne cures. Consider cyproterone acetate as it is more effective.You will probably need a moisturising regime as your skin will become less oily. Biotin & fish oil or flaxseed supplement will help skin & hair in general. Zinc, magnesium & other trace elements may be deficient -supplements may or may not help.
My skin improved big time on this combination - very satisfied!
Kind regards, Kirsten.
