Title: On average how many procedures do most mtf have done?
Post by: Lisa89125 on December 16, 2018, 07:36:01 PM
Hi ladies, Curiosity killing the cat. On average how many mtf have what percentage of procedures done? Seems some have nearly everything done that is possible while others elect not to.

It all depends on what you need to be done.

The younger transitioners often just need GCS and they are good to go.

The older girls like myself, needed GCS, FFS, beard electrolysis and scalp transplants.

Everyone needs HRT, but only some of us need a BA.

For me it is HRT and facial hair removal.  I plan to have an orchi done in the near future, and SRS in the not so near future, if at all.
I do not need anything done to my face or hairline, or body hair removal (what's not there, doesn't need to be removed)

At 29 I'm looking at Electro, VFS, FFS, BA? GCS. I am also considering some body sculpting procedures. My hips are feeding my dysphoria but I don't know what all I will be willing to subject myself to.

I have only been on estradiol. I have not required any other medication.

The only surgery I have had is GCS.

I started HRT at 28 years old.

Why did you get a rib cage reduction?  What did they do for this?

Maybe she had a large men's barreled chest? ???

I had a thick rib cage a man's barrel chest.  They remove 6 lower ribs 3 in front and 3 in back.

This is major surgery, and normally not in the realm of cosmetic surgeons!  Knowing what is involved with that, and the possible complications I would have though it over at least 5 times!

I'm not satisfied with my chest either and I have contemplated this surgery but I feel that it's too risky.

My priority list: Hair removal(almost done), HRT, VFS, GCS?, FFS??

HRT is vital for me, no question. My voice is very important to me and I feel that I'll never be able to improve it enough with training only so VFS will probably be inevitable.
Not sure if I'll need GCS, we'll see. Maybe I'll consider FFS or some cosmetic surgeries to look a little younger but first I need to be full-time to have a clearer picture of my wants and needs.

I've thought about having the two floater ribs removed. The only issue I raise has to do with what happens in the event of say an auto accident?

The lower part of the rib cage is pretty flexible.  Prior to having a very invasive surgery (with all the risks associated with that), I would try to "retrain" those ribs.  It was done by almost all females during the Victorian period, when a wasp like waste was the hot fashion.  I would get a corset (similar to this https://www.amazon.com/SHAPERX-Seamless-Control-Shapewear-Bodysuit/dp/B07JP53Y54/ref=pd_rhf_eetyp_s_vtp_ses_clicks_0_5?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07JP53Y54&pd_rd_r=e67cfdbb-a761-4787-b545-4d34eab0cd49&pd_rd_w=5xnvp&pd_rd_wg=bdY4a&pf_rd_p=05d75987-58ed-4d36-bbfa-515cd87e4ee3&pf_rd_r=SBPNXJ3523C0S4T1R2A5&refRID=SBPNXJ3523C0S4T1R2A5), and start to slowly bend those lower ribs more inward!
I have a pretty large rib cage, too, and plan to go this route.  It is way cheaper and way less critical with way less undesired side effects!

Was that done in the USA?

Happy so far?  I'd like to have one or two.  I think I'm ok but would like to be a little smoother on the sides l.

Most cases end up fine!  Unless you are one of the unhappy people who do not end up being fine!  And you canfind those in the medical literature!

It is the same with SRS, most end up fine, but we can read here of some really bodged ones!  SRS is the only way to achieve the desired outcome, while other methods are available for rib cage reduction.  Those methods take longer but are way less critical.

So far, the only procedure I have had done is facial electrolysis.  In the future, I am planning GRS and a trachea shave, to be done at the same time.  I have no plans for FFS, VFS, fat transfers, or anything else.  Couldn't afford it anyway.

Had the first manicure of my life today!  One of my girlfriends had a coupon for some $$ off at a new studio.  We were close to it anyway, and checked it out.  They agreed to honor the coupon for the two of us.  Now I have professionally looking beautiful nails, and I am afraid to do anything with my hands.
But I have to urgently weld a new holding bracket to the mower deck of my tractor.  I have to figure out how to do this without destroying my beautiful looking fingernails!

I have HRT, BA, electrolysis (face, genital, chest), laser (face, neck, chest, arms, genital), and have grs, forehead reduction, hairline advance, trachea shave scheduled on Jan 11 and waiting on precertification for lip lift, and jaw reduction

Why do you want a lip lift?  And what is involved with this?  Could they not just inject either Botox or some collagene into your lips?

Now that can be an interesting problem Linde. Every time I do my nails I end up destroying them working on something.

BA- I am so on the fence about having BA. I want to be able to lactate if possible. I don't know why.

electrolysis- face, neck, chest, arms, genital. Those are all the places I am going to have done and am not looking forward to the agony. I think it's funny as a sparky we try to avoid getting zapped. Yet, for electrolysis we're subjecting ourselves to 100 volts DC or more possibly. (Not 100% sure what voltage they use?)

GCS- I want to have it eventually. Might take me a long time to pay for it though.

FFS- My forehead is to masculine.

VFS- Definitely. I have a deep fog horn voice.

BA will not help you to lactate!  The augmentation device is just a silicon filled pouch that is either inserted under the skin or under the muscles.  It just inflates the tissue that is located above it, and If anything, may reduce the possibility to easily lactate.

It is understood that cis-females have  a shorter space (a couple of mm) on average between the bottom of their noise and their top lip.
A lip lift aims to achieve a more 'female' appearance by shortening this distance.

There are side-benefits as well...

The shortening has the effect of rolling the lip outward slightly making it look fuller,  and also showing more of the upper teeth when smiling - another female attribute.

Linde, Correct. I should have gone into more detail. If I have BA my chances of lactating go down. I also just don't like the idea of a huge pile of silicone inside my boobs. Got to think about that one a bit more.

Yes, all of this!  I had one.  I love my lip lift.

Also when one ages, male or female the distance between the upper lip and the nose increases or sags/stretches..  So it can also bring a more youthful look.  Also the procedure can be done again when one is older if the distance increases again.

I have been blessed and have not needed much done
Lip lift
Chin implant
Trech shave
Electrolysis

Now that I'm getting older (mid 40's) my forehead is starting to sag into my eyes.  And I want to round out my hairline.

So I plan on doing these asap
Forehead reduction work, brow, lower hairline etc
Hair transplants to round out the hairline

Thanks!  Do you have some mm numbers for the difference?  because of my intersex thing, I might have a shorter distance there already.  But I have small lips, and I just looked at a picture of my mother, when she was about my age, and she has the same small lips as I do.  Looks wise I am basically a carbon copy of my mother (people tell me).

The silicone will not do anything bad to you.  When we worked on the development of breast augmentation devices, we  did self testing by injecting each other with this silicone, and had no negative results from it. (after we did a lot of animal testing).
I hope that I do not need such a surgery, because having worked with the stuff for quite a while (I still have one sitting on my desk as a paper weight), I cannot see anything sexy in those things.

As a intersex person, felt I was cursed when i was younger, and now that I am a woman, I feel blessed!
I have no Adams Apple, nothing needs to be shaved there, I have a rather female chin and jaw line, and I have no body hair.  I also have no receding hairline, and no bald spots either.  My hairline is pretty low on my forehead, at the typical location a female hairline should be ( a pain in the neck for doing makeup, I always have to fight my hair to stay away from my forehead).
What do you understand under "my forehead is starting to sag into my eyes" ?  What would forehead reduction work do here?

The only "intervention" I had done to my body so far, is getting my ears pierced, and getting laser treatment against my beard growth.
Otherwise, my head looks exactly like shown in the avatar picture (I just Photo-shopped a few wrinkles away).  But chin, jaw line, nose and forehead are the way mother nature decided to build me.

I think you look great!

I guess I could have been blessed in being borne in the correct body.  So maybe blessed is not the right word.

I think everything happens for a reason for some reason in most cases.  lol

From what a doctor told me is that lowering my hairline will also work as a lift, and he can lift my brows at the same time.  That will take the skin off the eye lids.  Which will also brighten my eyes.  At least that is what he wants to do.

Well, I kind of was born in the right body, it is just that some body decided to eliminate one set of plumbing on me, and leave the other here.  As it turns out now, the wrong set was left (my body started growing breasts, prior to any hormone intervention I was porting small B cups already).  I just need to get my real plumbing back now.

I think what your doc wants to do, ids to use the same incision for pulling your scalp forward and pulling your facial skin up.
Being from the surgical field, I am just amazed about what some cosmetic surgeons do!

Every feminizing surgery available lol
I only really want a nose job, brow bone reduction, and fat transfer from my stomach, sides/love handles and arms to my breasts. I may want some fat/muscle removed from my buccal area to give me a bit more of a "contour" look, but that may be a bit excessive.

It's hard to say.  A fairly large piece of the MtF population have no surgeries.  Many have HRT.

Some of us need surgical interventions to bring our bodies and identities closer together.  I'm one of these folks, and am privileged to have the insurance, funds, and access to do this.  In my particular case, I have had gender confirmation surgery (GCS), facial feminization surgery (FFS), and am scheduled for a breast augmentation (BA) and revision labiaplasty.

At some point I may seek a chondrolaryngoplasty (trach shave) as part of a lower facelift.

Each of these surgeries includes a number of procedures.  The numbers vary wildly depending on each patient's needs, and the affordability of treatment.
