Title: Republican Gov. Kasich bars anti-trans discrimination in Ohio state workforce

Gov. Kasich bars anti-trans discrimination in Ohio state workforce

The order, titled Executive Order 2018-12-K, bars discrimination on the basis of numerous protected categories, including sexual orientation and gender identity, revising policy for the first time to bar anti-trans discrimination. The order replaces Executive Order 2011-05K, which barred discrimination in the state workforce on the basis of sexual orientation, but not gender identity.

Great news for Ohio, and just another example that LGBT support is not simply split along party lines; life is not that simple,  as much as some may like it to be.

That's nice for state workers but does nothing to help those in the private sector. I just wish they'd damn fix the birth certificate thing.

Completed social transition in 1973 and SRS in 1977. Have never had a birth certificate to match. >:( I've never needed one, even when I got married and have been self-employed for 23+ years and my boss doesn't care but still, it's something I wouldn't mind having before I die.

Well, yeah...but Obama's executive orders only applied to federal workers and he was hailed as the second coming of Christ!

Progress comes in fits and spurts, but it's still progress.

I could change my birth certificate if I wanted to, but I have better things to do with the $50, to be honest.

I too would love to change my birth certificate before I die.  As it stands right now, what's the use of changing my correct, legal, male name in my home state if my birth certificate is wrong?  >:(

At least Kasich did one good thing before leaving office!  I can't think of anything else he did for the transgender community that wasn't harmful in some way...but I could be wrong.
