Title: How Long (Days/Hours) After Taking Your Medication, Are You Advised to have BT?

Hello Everyone
It appears to me from reading so many pieces of information on this Board that the instructions may not only be different between countries/states but also between Doctors/Endos. I am not implying any rule is correct but just wish to see if we could list the method of HRT (ie tablets, injection, patches etc) and the timespan after taking the HRT that we are advised to have our Blood Test for E&T please.
I am with GenderGP in UK
E Patches (Twice a Week) and AA by Tablets (Daily) and Injection (12 Weeks)
Blood Test: The day after my Patch Change which means 24-36 hours later.
Thanking you and Hugs to all

My doctor told me that, for consistency, she wants me to get my blood tests done at the end of a patch, just before I change it. I normally change patches Friday mornings and Monday evenings. So, I go either Friday morning before breakfast (especially if she wants to check sugars or lipids) and change the patch when I get home, or shortly before the lab closes on Mondays.
Before I started doing that, I had some pretty high E levels that caused her to reduce my dosage. We realized on the next prescription cycle that the reduction was not good for me, and that's when she realized that it was the timing that was throwing off my levels. Now, I test fairly consistently.

My visits are still 3 mo apart.
On pills it was simply show up during the day before I ran out so I could get the results in a timely manner before my prescription ran out.
I've just switched to one injection every 2 weeks. The only change is to make the appointment on the off week, preferably the same day. I take a shot on Monday, so my test would be on a Monday that I don't take a shot - every three months before prescription runs out. Since I just started, that may change if something doesn't look right in my next test.

Hi Pamela,
Hope your HRT is still doing you well. Imagine what it would be like being back on the old Testosterone profile(yuck) !
Anyways I go to Northside Clinic in Darwin.
Gel application every morning + cyproterone.
Blood test in the morning before hormone application. ie 24 hours after last dose.

Kathy
Thank you. I am convinced that timing is so critical. I did not (like you) have my medication reduced but after 6 months my E reading was 1662 (Intl) 453 (US) as I had my BT just 18 hours after patch change whereas after 9 months it was 442 (Intl) 120 (US) as I had my BT 36 hours after patch change.
I agree we must certainly aim for consistency of timing of BT.
Hugs

I just asked my GD this a couple of weeks ago, and she recommended at least 6 hours. I take my Estrogen sublingually. Too soon afterwards and you Estrogen levels will be artificially high, and could cause your doctor to be concerned about your hormone levels at your current dosage.

Thank you to all you have so far responded to my request at the beginning of this thread and which is copied in Myranda's helpful reply above. Thank you also to Kirsten for your kind words. My HRT is progressing well and my next BT is on the afternoon of Feb 7th.
Anyone else wish to let me have the advice on timing given to you please?
Thanking you and Hugs to all

Especially after my doctor was concern with my first numbers that were taken after 2 hours of dosage. I will however for my next test take it at the 12 hour mark, then calculate the average between the two. Since I take my pill buccal twice per day, I will do the math based on the predictability charts. This way, my doctor will have a more realistic picture. Since my doctor is new to MfF HRT, I should have done the 6 hours for my first test. Future tests after this next one, will probably be done at the 6 hour mark. But I will make minor adjustments on timing after I get the data first. Once I get my timing down, I will make it the same for all future tests. The ultimate goal is to have consistency with regard to BT after last dose.
Anyone else wish to let me have the advice on timing given to you please?
