Title: Post op nerve damage
Post by: StacyRenee on February 14, 2019, 12:15:07 AM
I'm nearly 5 weeks post op after having an orchiectomy. I still have areas that are numb. It was done with inguinal incisions. The area that is numb is between the incision and the crease of my leg/hip. I'm curious if any of you ladies have had a similar experience and if the sensation has returned.

Hi Stacy!...Congrats on your procedure!!!...  I definitely would not worry!!!... I can't speak directly about an orchi but, most all the procedures I have had, including GRS, involved a fair degree of numb areas post op.... The feeling slowly returns over the months that follow... Your patience will be rewarded!

Onward we go!!!

I'm 4 weeks post op from ingiunal orchiectomy. Thanks for alerting me on this I found something dense underneath the skin I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise. They straight across from each incision right by my hip bone, is that the spot you're talking about? They hurt a little when I press on them so no nerve damage for me. I wonder what is under there? maybe its where the chords or vessels are tied off, my surgical notes said the chords and vessel were ligated separately whatever that means. I'll get to ask in my follow up appointment next week

I think you're right. I had lumps there as well. I think the blood may cause the tied off blood vessel to swell a little and causes those knots. The numbness I'm referring to is at the surface of the skin. I had only a very little swelling and bruising.
