Title: From Europe with Love
Post by: chrisalex on March 14, 2019, 12:48:39 AM
Hello,

January 7 I have been invited to introduce myself here. I had spontaneously replied to some forum discussions the day before (see https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php?topic=173373.0).

I took a while to get sorted about an introduction. Here we go...

I am trans. I'm over 40. I'm on HRT since 4 months. I feel relieved, free and happy and totally enjoy my life now. I'm really feeling good, without doubt it's the way to go.

Somehow I'd like to tell the whole story of my stepping into HRT. Though it'll take time to get it written well. So, I'll take my time. Maybe years.

I'd like to make people understand the trans* phenomenon, and I know that most people in this world, even most therapists, will never really understand because they lack the respective self-experience. Being socially marginalised or even discriminated due to the lack of public understanding makes me feel angry, because understanding transgender is simply a question of education. It clearly should be the misson of every basic education system in this world to eliminate public ignorance responsible for social exclusion and discrimination of trans*.

I live in a European so called first world nation. Capitalism. It's one of the more nationalist, conservative and anti-socialist European countries. I don't really like its policies. For example, in comparison to other European nations its trans* related legislation and jurisdiction are of average friendliness. Only this "average" ranking does not give any information about the real quality of legislation and jurisdiction (or the people's attitude towards transgender). It just says that approximately half of European countries are more trans friendly and the other approx half of nations have worse jurisdiction and legislation.
In my opinion, trans related jurisdiction and legislation are actually bad in my country, and I really wouldn't want to know how life is as trans* in one of the nations with even worse laws and institutions... So, anti-discrimination, anti-defamation, anti-persecution are very, very important topics for me. Public ignorance as driving force behind trans* discrimination has to be eliminated. I want to live freely as everybody else. Otherwise we'd have to consider tax exemption for transgender people (I mean, I'm not paying taxes etc just to receive my everyday share of trans* discrimination, somehow that'll have to stop). So much for politics.

At a human pace (I avoid spending too much time on the internet), I'll be frequently looking into Susan's Place and commenting spontaneously whenever I feel like it. I'm missing forums like this one in my primary language, there are no trans* related discussion forums in my country.

Love,
Chris

@chrisalex
Dear Chrisalex:
Thank you for following the suggestions and LINK that our lovely member  @KathyLauren  gave to you to come here to the Introductions Forum in our Welcome Messages when you posted your first time here on the Forums back on January 06, 2019 on another thread.

Now that you have briefly introduced yourself, there are many more members that will be aware of your presence here.  You can now expect to see more interaction and sharing of thoughts and questions with other like minded members.

Please come in and get involved as much as you feel comfortable doing... this is a friendly, safe and happy place to explore your new feelings.
Hopefully you have reviewed the informative LINKS that  KathyLauren   gave to you at the end of her Welcome message back in January when you posted for the first time on the Forums.
Look carefully at the LINKS IN RED, they will answer many questions that new members may ask.

Again, Welcome to Susan's Place,
Best Wishes to you,
Danielle
