Title: Hello

Hi. I am new. I have a couple questions..: How do I upload a profile image? And, is email set to public by default? Because I don't want that. A little about myself: I am intersex. I was born genetically male, but during my prenatal development, I did not produce testosterone. When this happens, the child is born essentially female, minus the tissues and organs which are determined by chromosomes, but can later develop as male. The inner layers and the outer layers are not a match, but I have retained physical and mental female traits. I don't consider myself male or female. I think of myself as gender-dynamic. It happened due to my mother suffering a trauma at around the juncture of the 1st and second trimester. It's a sordid story that I won't go into presently. My childhood was about what you'd expect. Speech therapy, mockery, not fitting in, being afraid, hiding my nature. And I am not open with it to this day. It was a different world when I was growing up, and little boys were not little girls, period. You would get branded a " pervert " and beat up. That kind of conditioning is hard to escape. I suspect my story in not unique here, so I won't preach to the choir. I came here to connect with people of the LGBT community and follow the news feed. I look forward to having some good conversations.

Hi. Thank you for the help, and responding to my post so quickly. I have done some moderating on other forums, so can appreciate those who keep the wheels greased, and respond to questions that have probably been asked many times.

We try to provide the greeting links on everybody's initial post to eliminate some of the questions. However that goes out the window when somebody asks a question on their initial post. Anyway when you accept the job, you have to agree to a page of duties you need to preform and among those is to make sure members get responses to their posts. Others may provide the responses but if they don't, we should try to provide a useful response.

I have another question. I can't find anything on uploading attachments. I might be missing something. If so I apologize. What I want to do is upload an image to the painting sub-forum.

You need to use an image hosting site, I use imgur because it's a fairly simple setup and easy to use ;D

Ok, thank you. I will browse some image hosting sites. I have a face now though. <thumbs up> apologies for the image quality. I didn't want to make it easy for others to recognize me. I am probably just paranoid.

Hi Haley, my name is Moni. I thought I would thank you for sharing some of your story and welcome you. I hope you will be comfortable here. I guess whether we are intersex or transgender, we all have a history of hiding. I have found this place to be great for sharing. Hope to see you around.

Thanks, and everyone here seems very nice. I have read through a number of posts, and that seems to be a consistent feature, as well as the moderators being on top of things.

I just want to add that it feels like a great privilege to be here among people to whom I can speak openly to, and also that you all seem very nice and helpful. And I hope I'm not aggravating the mods too much. Also, congratulations on keeping down the trolls and spam-bots. I haven't seen a single one. I sort of expected a circus to be honest.

The spambots and trolls are out there but we try to make it rather hostile to them. Often we see how fast we can get the ban in and sometimes it can be within the first 3 or 4 posts. Must be disappointing to create an account and have it become useless after only a few posts.
We have a strong moderator presence and while we do enforce the TOS, we try to allow as much freedom as possible for people to express themselves. It's a safe place to explore your feelings and to explore some rather delicate topics.
