Title: my journey- discovering me

Back in Sep last year I felt I couldn't wait, I just had to do something, so I started taking Pueraria Mirifica.
So after I few weeks I felt my breasts/nipples get tender and sore. Over the next few months there was a noticable to me change in the breast shape, and my nipples have changed as well.
My skin stopped being oily.
My mental and emotional state became calmer and I would say happier. Even thought I was very worried about any body changes being notable yo others.
Then in Feb I took my last PM, money being short.
After about 3 to 4 weeks I noticed I became more easily hot tempered. Then the oily skin came back.
Seeing girls/women has me wondering even more how thier clothes would be on me. I get pangs in both my breasts and my groin, a longing ache sometimes.
I have been really looking at those with similar body shapes as mine. Even comparing how thier breasts are shaped and size to how I hope to look. I have thin legs and even thinner arms.
It caught me off guard to see how smaller breasts women are getting my attention more then before. I would tell myself a size A or small B would be ok, I am seeing that as being much more appealing to my now.
So my insurance requires the PCP to request a referral to get approved to see a therapist for gender related reasons, then sessions for at least 3 months before they will cover HRT.
I did some research and found Planned Parenthood will do Informed Consent starting of HRT. So I hope to be able to afford this starting in June or July.
I have found some drug discount programs online, I will need to use them, as my costs will most likely be all out of pocket. Does anyone have one they prefer to suggest.
From what I have read, I most likely will be on the patch, as I am 60.

If you find a better drug discount web site, let us know however Good RX (https://www.goodrx.com/) has worked pretty good for the people on the site. When you see a doctor, you might want to ask if there is anything they are aware of because one of the other patients might have passed some information on.

I will keep that in mind about asking about other possible sources of discounts.
Thank you.

It's scary as all hell but come out to your PCP.
When I went into the office to come out my blood pressure was like 210 over 140. I was terrified.
I live in no where Oklahoma. I was expecting rejection. I found acceptance and the knowledge I wasn't the only trans patient / client she has.
The key thing is coordination of care. Yes Planned Parenthood will work with you on an 'informed consent' basis. I was looking that way when I feared I had no other choice. I discovered they probably wouldn't coordinate with my PCP. Us older women need to make sure our PCP has the whole story.
I'm doing the patch. (Two actually.) Lord knows I done enough damage to my liver trying to cope. The estradiol is absorbed through the skin, bypassing the liver. It works. I've found my peace and have developed boobs that I know I have to be modest about.
I'm not quite sure about the PCP needing to refer you to a therapist. I sought out the therapist, and after she confirmed the dysphoria, is when I came out to my PCP.
At any rate, coordinate your care. It's a pain - but you'll be healthier.

Aren't injections cheaper? And they also bypass the liver.

I also plan to hit up Planned Parenthood for the HRT soon. Let us know how your visit to PP goes.
Best wishes!

Because of my job as a truck driver it was very hard to get appointments with my old PCP. My old PCP required appointment scheduled weeks in advance. So I am looking for a new PCP near my work location.
I am finally on a regular schedule day off, wednesdays , so this should help.
I was using a online therapist, she was very helpful, as I could write out my feelings and concerns. I tend to scramble my words when speaking and am nervous. However that was costly, and not covered by my insurace.
So many things in the works.

I haven't checked on thier prices. I read that patches are recommended for persons my age. And they would be much easier to manage. I also believe the patches would not cause the roller coaster effect injections can cause.
Just my opinion.
Have a wonderful day.
