Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Hi everyone!

Like a lot of you, I got a lot out of this site when I was beginning my transition and also through the past 2 years.  It's sad that all of the things that I had bookmarked for support, etc. went away with the "New Years Crash of 2023".

Oh well, nothing to do but try to pick back up the pieces...

A couple things I might suggest for the site, though:
  - #1:  I can't load an image for my profile anymore.  What happened?
  - #2:  Where'd my cute little kitty (ticker) go?
  - #3:  I would reorder the boards based on the frequency of use

Site News should be first, then Community Conversations, then Blogs.  I would put International and General Discussion last.  If you want people to show back up, you need to make the most relevant threads immediately visible.  Personally, I would also merge and get rid of some of the sub-boards that are not typically being updated.  It will be hard to get more people showing up if they look around and see that the most recent posts are from 2019.  JMO.

Heck, now that I think of it... just about ALL of the stuff we used to have is gone.  I liked the signature lines where we could mention our transition timeline information / provide a link to blog, etc.

I'm not sure if this new format supports that, but it would be really nice to have that back.  I generally don't look for new blogs to follow, but I'll click on someone's signature link.

I'm probably just being one of those insufferable "you missed a spot" people, but I just wanted to make sure that it was brought up so that y'all don't think we didn't care about those things!

Hey Sara! Welcome back! - until you get to 15 posts (or maybe 16... not sure if it's 15 or MORE than 15) a lot of functionality is turned off. Took me a bit to figure that out.
That's what we get for being newbies!

Welcome back Sara! Once you hit 15 posts, you should be able to add an avatar and a signature line. The site staff has been working hard to rebuild, concentrating on the basics first. We are open to suggestions. Like the 'Six Million Dollar Man', this site will be rebuilt, better, faster, and stronger than before.

OK, Thanks!  That makes sense, I guess.  Too bad we couldn't get "grandfathered" in LOL.

If I remember correctly, there are post limits early on as well.  It may take a few days for me to be one of the "cool kids" again  ;D

It would be nice if the mods could just remove those probationary restrictions on returning members who got "wiped." Then again, I'm sure they have more important things to do.

I'm sure that some of the bells and whistles will be returned to the forum, but I think we're starting with the basic version just to get off the ground.

Only in Hawaii. I will grant you this in Hawaii. But thinking back... I may have been ensorcelled by the palm trees, waves and weather. So it might not have been the Spam so much as the atmosphere. An old shoe probably tastes delicious in Hawaii.

I used to like it as a kid. Mom grew up with it and would occassionally make it. I eat mostly vegatarian (not completely, mostly) so no way am I putting mystery meat in a can in me.

Long time since I had a spam fritter, not in a hurry to have one now!!

I still eat Spam. Fried and covered in peaches is my fav. I know my tastes are weird but I also like scrapple. And take a statin for my cholesterol.  :)

Spam is a comfort food for me and my family.  It always reminds me of the many camping trips my family took when I was growing up where a dinner staple was Spam and Spaghetti.

And yes- I do make S'Mores for dessert some days too!

Welcome back Sara!  Just got back on myself.  Looking forward to rebuilding

These days I usually have about a dozen cans of Spam just in case I can't get to the market.
I usually make Spam Musubi.  I also to eat it with a brown sugar and mustard glaze. 

I miss the halcyon days of the lost years, where Sara's food discussion was normally on the merits of beef barbecue over any other. say pork. I feel a sadness discussion meat in a can...
