I am 73 yr old fairly passable fem no surgery and B cup and live in St Paul, MN. I often go to YWCA or YMCA for classes. I go to a YMCA that has communal showers or YWCA with locker room saunas. Minnesota allows me to do this as female. When I first enter locker room I announce to the women in various states of undress that "I am transgender, do you mind if I change naked with you"? The response is always NO. I AM A WOMAN and these women love me as a woman even as we shower naked in shower where I tell jokes. I now have friends to coffee with after class. Please reach out to your local Y's, embrace the fact that you are a woman, meet new friends and above all, be the proud woman you are.

I would never announce anything like that. When I had a YMCA membership, I just did what I needed to do in the locker room as discreetly as possible and never had a problem.

Why do you want to do this and why do you think this is acceptable?

I am 59 y.o. fairly passable but non - op and I regularily do swimming in a public swimming pool in Milan Italy.
Management knows my status and allowed me to go into ladies changerooms.
As shower are communal, I take shower with my swimsuit on, even though some of the girls/ladies removes theyr ones, and change discretely in closed lockers.
I never felt the need to declare (other than to management) that I'm transgender, but at the same time I would never for no reasons get fully naked in presence of other women.
By doing this I never had any problems
ciao

I wouldn't go in a Ladies locker room or shower. I don't want anyone to see "it". It would make me uncomfortable not being built like they are. And I won't go in a men's either.

And I won't go in a men's either.I fully understand and share your same concerns. It would not only be embarassing but could also generate serious problems if anybody saw "it" in a ladies changing space.
However, also the "do nothing" option is not so attractive.
If you are coming out of a swimming pool, first of all you can take your shower with you swim suit on.
Then, in the swimmingpools I go to, it's possible to change in tiniy but closed changing rooms so no-one would see "it". At least this is quite normal whwere I live, I don't know about USA.
if you are reasonably passing and self confident, it is possible!

Dear Roberta:
Again, I agree with what you so clearly stated regarding how to handle locker rooms
and changing rooms. Being discrete and careful is the best way to handle these issues.
This policy applies to anyone that is in their transition journey, MTF, FTM, etc.
NOW, my comment for YOU, Roberta:
I really like your new Avatar/Profile photo that you uploaded onto your profile.
Thank you for sharing and posting.
