Do you like to eat mushrooms?

What are your favorite varieties?

Made a pasta dish with bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes to use up the button mushrooms I had left over from the pork and mushroom curry. Not much choice in the supermarket just white button, large white flat and chestnut.

I like those button mushrooms.  Good for some Chinese style foods.

Back in the day when I would make homemade meatballs, I would buy a little tin of canned mushrooms, an onion or two, and a jar of pepper rings and cheese crackers. Sometimes, I would buy hot ones, and other times it would be the mild ones. I also used hot sauce.

I would slow-cook this stuff for hours. It was always worth it. Oh. I forgot about the egg wash. I would start buying that after a few instances of the meatballs falling apart, and it was just a kind of goulash at that point. It was still delicious.

I sometimes find lots of mushrooms when I hike or walk.  I never pick them.  I do not eat them.

Some seem to grow on the side of trees, those do not seem to have caps.

Mushrooms I see have been in all different colors.  Different sizes too.

Like the  small brown chestnut mushrooms in a sausage casserole or stir fried in garlic.

I saw some HUGE white mushrooms!  They appear to be called giant puffballs and they may indeed be safe to eat.  But I left them alone.

Be careful what you pick and eat. Get it wrong and you'll be foaming at the mouth roaring at a purple hippo!

I bypass the wild mushrooms.  Found a morel but left it for a friend to pick. 

False Morels (poisonous, need preparations). Shiitake. Oyster Mushrooms. Chanterelles. Penny Buns.

I only eat mushrooms from stores or in meals.  I assume these will be safe to eat.

I buy in stores but the False Morel is no problem and it is simple to prepare it and get rid of the toxin.
There are some other mushrooms here that are lethal unless treated very shortly after ingestion, meaning before you get symptoms.

One needs to avoid the bad ones!  Mushrooms, and people too!
