Title: Have you ever had a dream specifically about your transitioning?
Post by: ChrissyRyan on October 05, 2024, 04:55:50 PM
Have you ever had a dream specifically about your transitioning or your desired future transitioning?  Perhaps what life would be like, an event, a realization, body transformation, etc?

Did your dream come true, at least in part?

I don't think I have ever had a dream about transitioning, but I also rarely remember my slumber time thoughts.

What I have noticed is that when I can recall them, I am no longer male. I'm unsure if my subconscious ever did misgender me (lol) but nowadays, I am definitely female :)

Some times i do dream of random things where my subconscious sends me into completely random places as my fully transitioned self.
but most of the time its my family telling me of the dreams they have had about me having long natural hair, living in my own place as female or even being a fully passing woman. It makes me want to have those dreams too.

No dreams but plentiful of daydreaming, I often go into a trance of thoughts specifically about my transitioning involving positive outcomes like feeling accepted, confident, and happy in my body. My therapist says it's a normal and healthy way to process emotions and envision a desired reality.

I used to have a reoccurring dream that I ran away from home with a girl. We had packed a couple changes of girl clothes in a backpack. She said I wouldn't need boy clothes. We took off and started walking and then the boy wasn't there anymore just her She looked like my identical twin.Same height, build, pretty long Auburn hair, blue eyes. Female me.

Lilis,

I believe there has been some research published that found that those that daydream tend to be able to be sympathetic or empathetic.

Many do not do much daydreaming because they stare at the device screens much of the day.

I've had a recurring nightmare. Not quite what you were asking about, I think. It kind of seems as though you're wanting positive stories. Mine hasn't been positive, at least the ones that really stick out to me. Okay, so anyway, the nightmare is that my genitals appear as though I never had the surgery. It has been very disturbing because in the dream I have been just so confused and so sad, like I just don't know what happened. The first few times I've had this dream I've woken up and just cried. They've been very affirming in terms of my decision, but they really are horrific.

That sounds horrible, and I'm sorry you've had to deal with that.

I don't understand why our subconscious sometimes decides to torment us while we sleep. We could have the most amazing dreams, but instead it's like "How about we manifest your worst anxieties while you can't do anything about it?".

Dreams are the mind's way of purging thoughts that we don't have to worry about. Sometimes, the thoughts may be more intrusive so it takes recurring dreams to become desensitized to that thought. Sometimes, it is a "one and done" situation.

It isn't harmful, but if it is disturbing enough, talking to a therapist can help move the process along so you can put that behind you. It is disturbing while it is happening, but once you move through it, it gets quickly forgotten. Hang in there.

Had a nightmare last night that my body detransitioned.  Very unnerving.
Looked very much like a guy except for my painted fingernails, androgynous head hair, and there was nothing to fill my bra if I would wear one, which I was not.

I awoke realizing it was a dream.  Hope I do not have same one again.

I am not sure if I would 100% day these are transition dreams oer say but I definitely think they are related. And I have had with if these several times:

1) dream start in medias res and I am being rushed into a hospital, having experienced some kind of unspecified traumatic accident, that resulted in my male parts being mutilated, and the only thing the doctors can do, is perform and Orchi and GRS.

2) again dream starts in media res, I am swimming in a lake, treading water or something, and just my head is really visible above water, and someone from my family swims up and they have no idea I have breats, and I am terrified they will notice, so I am doing everything I can too only allow my head above water. Sometimes I am wearing some kind of shirt in the water, and I am pulling it down under the water, to kind of hide them as well, while doing what I can to just allow my head above the water.

I almost never remember my dreams, so I don't really know.  As far as I can recall, I haven't.

But, when I was a kid, in all my daydreams, I was a girl.  You'd think that that would have been a clue, but I overlooked it for many decades.  Maybe I assumed that everyone had daydreams like that.  Or maybe I suspected that they didn't, but that that made it all the more important never to talk about it.

No. I have never had a dream about being trans, or transitioning. My most vivid dreams are all being... just me. And it was the most natural thing in the world. One such dream caused me to look into stuff and join this site. I can still remember it. My original username here, Leiandra, came from the name of a ship in my dreams. An old, 18th century schooner. Proper sailboat.

I suspect that is because I was a navy gal, so I have a special association towards ships and boats. I still remember the dream, even though it was like 18 years ago at this point. I was doing the whole Kate Winslet deal, arms out on the bow. Feeling on top of the world. It was so vivid. And the name just stuck with me. Not long after that, I came here. It affected me so deeply.

You're sweet, Chrissy but nah. I am just someone who hangs around like that patch of mould on the wallpaper you don't even see.

Hon, the wealth, and depth of knowledge... kindness, empathy and understanding I see every time I come here... I don't think I do. I see new people every time I come here, giving of themselves to not make someone feel scared. Not make someone feel alone, and unsure. You most of all. If you can give a good word to someone, you give it freely. And... the staff here are some of the kindest, gentlest, most encouraging people I've ever met. They aren't on a power trip. They just want to make everyone feel welcome, and safe.

These days, that's a very rare thing. I kind of did my thing maybe 10 years ago. I paid my dues and put in the work you folks put in now. I don't have really the energy anymore. But I am so so so glad there are people to take up that mantle and take the site forward. I keep stopping by because it's a habit I cannot break, lol. But you all are special. You are the people who keep this site running, and have done for like 20 years now.

I love and am proud of everyone here. <3
