Title: Color Pallet

Good afternoon Everyone! =)
I'm trying very hard to figure out my color pallet. My gender therapist highly recommended the book Color Me Beautiful:
http://www.randomhouse.com/rhpg/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780345345882
I'm very sure I'm either a Summer or a Winter but I can't decide which.
Does anyone have any pointers in this regard?
Thank you!
*hugs*

Go with black or darker colors, those look good on anyone. Depending on your hair color you may wish to use other warmer colors like red if your a blond and cooler colors like the darker colors I suggested in my first sentence if your hair is darker.
Also green is supposedly a very "IN" color right now so green might be a good option.
In any case be creative and don't just wear what color everyone else is wearing. If you like the color wear it. ;)
Good luck! :D
EDIT:
:P
That was dumb, I thought you were talking about clothing. LOL
Well my advice about the clothes sticks but for makeup I'd stick with a winter tone. Personally myself I use Cover Girl TruBlend Ivory foundation, Clinique loose power (also a very light tone), ebony black eyepencil and mascara (which both happen to be Estee Lauder). ;)

I'm probably the odd one out here but I prefer not to wear make up. Well I say that but I do put on a very tiny amount occasionally but I prefer a natural skin tone if possible.

Let me guess, winter is very white skin and summer is tan skin.

Actually no, you could be black and be a winter.
Its what kind of undertone you skin has.
Golden undertone, or neutral and your an autumn, like me.
Believe me, it does work. Wear the wrong color and you'll look butt ugly no
matter if your a top model or not.
Try this, it will tell you your color palette.

Thank you and welcome to the club. I don't understand that not wearing makeup is considered a transwoman's sin against our kind. More women wear little or no makeup versus those who wear it and it's usually for work or occasions. What don't transwomen understand it's a personal choice than a requirement of our being? I keep telling folks, and my therapist, what good is makeup hiking ("Gee, I'm just off the trail and need to refresh my face.") and I can't wear it doing photography unless I want to clean it off the cameras and lenses, not smart. I'll join your voice. After all makeup on me only goes so far, and I still look like me, and I have to take it off to do any work.

Thanks Susan K, I prefer the natural look. The people's stereoytype Transsexual female is gradually being eroded...

Make-up should highlight the good features not hide your flaws. Camoflage is a completely different realm. Good skin is the best foundation so skin care is the place to start. I like Body Shop's Aloe line. It works well for me. If I'm going out to run errands I'll apply a little blush, line my eyes with a brown pencil and maybe some lipstick.
For work I wear foundation. I used Dermacolor to hide beard shadow prior to laser/electrolysis. Once I had a clear face I switched to Kryolan's Ultra Foundation. I found a perfect match for my skin color, light olive, in their extensive color palette. A little blush to give me color and a light eye job. My requirement for eye make-up is that I must be able to apply it while standing on a moving trolley!
For going out I get more elaborate but still try to highlight the feature, especially my big brown eyes. I'm not a make-up snob but I love Lancome lipsticks! Their mascara rocks, too!

I'm not a big fan of foundation except maybe when you take photos where
evening the tone is important.
Foundation, should not be used full face in my opinion, only to solve problem spots.
That's why matching is important.
Better take care of your skin better and not need to use it.
But, mascara is so easy to put on, and makes such a diff that I don't think you
realize how many women use it.
Eye liner is my second go to thing,
eye liner and shadow also takes seconds to put, if you keep the scheme simple.

Check out Kevyn Aucoin's books. I appreciate that he goes against the rigid beauty rules and, honestly, what do they serve? For example, not wearing so-and-so color because you're a so-and-so season? Explore make-up and have fun! (Just try not to look like a hooker... easier said than done sometimes, I know!)

While I'm all for exploring, some colors don't go at all with you skin tone, eye, hair color.
If I wear any pastel, I'll look like somebody threw up on me.
Give me gold, orange, forest green, deep red, taupe, any warm deep color works wonders on me.

QuoteI'm very sure I'm either a Summer or a Winter but I can't decide which.
Back to the original question: Winters look good in color combinations like black and white. Their own coloring shows a lot of contrast between skin and hair (maybe eyes). Summers look best in bright light summer colors: like summer flowers.

I prefer to wear little to no makeup. And I agree about mascara, it takes me 15 seconds to apply and makes a big difference. I never wanted to use eyeliner and eyeshadow, as they look too artificial (and obviously not natural) for my taste. It can look good, just not my look.
I use foundation, blusher, pressed powder to even it all out, and mascara...and I'm done. Not even 10 minutes, if I'm lazy. Sometimes I forego it entirely. I don't change my make-up for days or nights, as I want it to look natural (and I don't look 'less natural' just because it's the evening).

Remember not everyone has the option of going without makeup, so please withhold judgment of made-up women... also, some of us come from cultures that use more makeup... like Middle Eastern or Latina.

While I agree to a point.
Not many women use full face fundation.
Most use it to fix areas (that's why matching is crucial).
Latina's love their eye shadow and mascara :-).

I have shopped in some Persian and Afghan stores where they still sell white lead, which women traditionally coat their faces with... although I think (I hope) that the ancient custom is dying out. I mean lead, eeeww. Darker-complexioned Caucasian women are likelier to grow a lot of body hair and even facial hair, mainly because it's darker and shows up more.
