Title: Hopefully this year is better.
Post by: CosmicJoke on December 09, 2024, 11:15:15 AM
Hi everyone. I remember posting last year about what happened to me on Christmas Eve. That got lost in the outage, but this is just an update.

Basically what happened was I had a pulmonary embolism. My heart and lungs were all clotted up. I had that clotting removed from a vein in my groin. It was a heart episode that fortunately I survived. They believed it was caused by my Estradiol medication.

Since then I have been prescribed Eliquis. I resumed Estrogen therapy and will be on Eliquis lifelong.

At my last appointment with my hematologist I was told I lost 17 pounds. I have been more active lately and hopefully I continue to lose weight. I'm not missing any doses of Eliquis and taking all the measures I can to prevent this.

I'm basically just hoping this year goes better for me and what happened to me never happens again.

@CosmicJoke
I am so glad that you are under a doctor's care and a prescription medication to
help deter and prevent the clotting issues that can cause serious health consequences.

Follow your doctor's orders, be diligent regarding taking your medication, and be certain
to schedule frequent follow blood tests and appointments with your doctor...
... and your coming year will be better indeed.

Thank you for sharing and posting....  stay healthy!!!!

HUGS, Danielle [Northern Star Girl]

Incredibly frightening, but it's good to see that you are taking proactive steps to prevent it from happening again. Congrats, on the weight loss—that's an impressive accomplishment! I'm aiming to lose another 15 pounds over the winter as well, to be ready for the warmer months next year. Wishing you a healthy year ahead, and I hope the challenges you faced don't repeat.

Merry Christmas! ❣️🦌

This is just a little update. I think Dr. McGinn is going to follow up with me. My mother texted her about this problem when I was initially hospitalized. Dr. McGinn said she never saw anyone have this reaction to estrogen in all her years of practice. She recently left a message on our home phone to say she will call another day to have a phone consult.

I've spoken to Dr. McGinn's PA-C's about my desire for vaginoplasty but BMI has been a real struggle. I already lost 17 pounds and she has this information from my hematologist. Hopefully her and I can discuss this and I can achieve this goal soon.
