I've only made hardshells. I use the white corn shells.

Depends what is in them!

The more authentic Mexican restaurants seem to provide each taco with two small size corn shells.

Also radishes.  Have you noticed that?

Soft tortilla shells.

I use the burrito shells which are bigger. Those small ones only give me enough food to make me mad.  ;D

Those small shells, not crispy, tend to fall apart with those moist asada tacos.  No wonder why they double shell them.

I have no idea!  There is a new taco place that opened up in town recently.  We have talked about going there.  But I am not sure I even know what a taco is.

Is it like a wrap, maybe?  Hard or soft: what are the merits of each?  What is good stuff to put in it?  Are they always spicy?  (My wife can't handle spicy food.)

Not always spicy. And not exactly a wrap. A wrap goes all the way around the filling where a taco is open on the top. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taco

A hard shell taco shell would be appear like a circle that has been bent or folded upwards, and the shell would be stiff.

Filling is added to it, but that filling can fall out of the open sides or top.  Filling would not fall out from the bottom unless the shell fell apart.

The problem with the hard shells is that when you bite into them they fall apart...
I like the soft flour shells the best.

Someone once said that Taco Bell was the telephone company serving the Southwestern states; but, they were mistaken.

It is a fast food chain.
