Yes, omg yes. I love, LOVE cream cheese. On crumpets it's like.... to die for. Don't bother with the Philly stuff though. That's just price gouging. Get supermarket own brand. Garlic and herb if you can find it. It's very subtle.
Probably is a different thing in the UK to the US though. Most things are.

I am a cream cheese fan too. I have no idea if the product is different across the world.

I knew I liked you for a reason. :)
You have two kinds of people in the UK. People who like cream cheese, and people who like "Cheese spread". They're very different things. One is horribly processed, and tastes like you're eating plastic... the other is cream cheese.

In the USA there are people who like cheese and people that like "pasteurized cheese food," whatever that is.

How anyone can eat blue cheese is... you have my respect. It's not my thing, at all. If I want mold I'll lick the walls in my aunt's flat. Just... *shudders*

It's the stuff they make Dairylea in the UK out of. It tastes like eating old CD covers. I'm sure it's nice if you're a fan of Take That.
I have seen the spray on cheese you have over there, Chrissy. I kind of think I want to try some just out of morbid curiosity. Cheese Whizz or something?

Can you get proper English crumpets over there?
They look like this:
If you can, do them in a toaster... a good, wide toaster, then liberally spread cream cheese on them, with cucumber, or pickles or whatever you fancy. The best breakfast you ever had.

This looks a lot like an English muffin as found in the USA.

In that case, I have never had a crumpet.
But I do love English Muffins in the toaster.

I doubt you can get proper crumpets over there. So your English muffins are good enough.
If I ever met either of you though, you'd both get the real thing. And lori, a mug of very good coffee to go with it. <3
Oh, and normally I don't advocate this... but you have to try peanut butter on a crumpet/English muffin. Proper chunky stuff. With actual peanuts. It's to die for. :D

I was able to buy some Georgian Blue Stilton at the local market. An excellent tasting cheese!
I usually get Philadelphia cream cheese from Target as the usually have the lowest prices unless a local market offers it at a low sale price.

I may try that Stilton cheese some day. But some cheese with blue mold in it does not even smell good.

Hi One and All
My mum and I both love cheese. I guess I inherited that trait from her. She enjoyed watching how various cheeses were made and I found myself fascinated by it too.
Here is a story from when I was working in Sydney. I got a contract located in Wollongong about 85 kilometers (53 miles) from Sydney and every day I traveled there by train.
Every Friday after work we had a small gathering with snacks, cheese and drinks. Before this time in my life I had never tried blue cheese and was reluctant to do so. However, on one occasion I was asked to try the ubiquitous blue cheese. I finally gave in and to my utter amazement it tasted like the food of the gods.
To this day blue cheese is one of my favorite cheeses. It never fails to bring me joy and of course a cheesy grin
Best Wishes Always

PS If you only knew Chrissy, how wonderful blue cheese tastes like.
PSS Blue cheese origin is France. Stilton cheese origin is UK, but still a blue cheese.

You can have crumbly and creamy blue cheese. I have had both and there are about 15 types of blue cheeses.
Just try a tiny little bit on your tongue first and see how that goes.

Crumbly is a good salad topping. I like Bleu cheese salad dressing if it has chunks in it.
The creamy kind is great for English muffins, toast, and bagels.

Speaking of salads and toppings, have any of you had a wedge salad?
It seems like a solid 1/4 head of lettuce as its base.
Blue cheese was a topping I noticed for it. Tomatoes too.
I never ordered it because I thought it was ridiculous to order one at a restaurant as it is so simple and quick to make, and inexpensive to make, at home.

Cheesecake can be very good. I like the graham cracker type of crust with it.
I usually buy the little squares, like about an inch square, so I do not consume many calories at any one time. Much easier to do that than cut a narrow slice. Just eat one or two pieces.

Some others can be good too.
They taste better to me if they are warm.
Sometimes toasting is fine, sometimes a brief microwave time just to warm it up works for me.
No soggy bagels, please.
