Title: Paraovarian cyst
Post by: BlueJaye on January 11, 2025, 07:27:19 PM
Well, I guess I'm officially part of the intersex club now. I went to the doctor yesterday for a urinary problem, was sent to the hospital for a CT scan, and was ultimately diagnosed with a paraovarian cyst on my right side. The cyst is putting pressure on the ureter (tube that leads from kidney to bladder). The cyst is partially calcified, but aside from putting some pressure on my ureter doesn't appear to be very dangerous.

Next step is to follow up with my primary care doctor for a referral to an OBGYN. From there, I don't know what happens. My sister had this exact same thing happen about 15 years ago. Her cyst was much larger, though. Mine is about the size of a tennis ball (which sounds very big to me, but I guess isn't a big deal), my sisters was about the size of a two liter bottle and nearly tore her ureter right off her kidney.

At the moment, my biggest fear is losing the ovary. Finally having confirmation of its existence at the age of 43 is better late than never, and I would like to hang onto it for as long as possible.

Just because you may no longer 'need' a body part, it doesn't mean you don't want it! I hope they are able to take care of you soon, and that you're able to keep all of your parts.

Love always -- Jess

I hope you safely deal with the cyst and do not lose an ovary.
