Is a (USA) hot dog a sandwich?
In the USA it is served with a hot dog bun that is split open from the top but the bun is still connected at its bottom.
In some parts of Europe it may be served differently I hear.

No a sandwich is 2 slices of bread with a filling. The traditional hot dog is eaten in a bread finger or long bun. It is possible to have hot dogs between 2 slices of bread though!

The hotdog bun is similar to a sub bun but I have never really considered a hotdog a sandwich.
But man now I want hotdogs.
