Title: After you came out, how many jobs did you work before being in an accepting one?
Post by: ChrissyRyan on February 17, 2025, 04:00:45 PM
After you came out, how many jobs did you have to work before being in an accepting one as a transgender person?

Were any of these jobs after you came out AND before you went full time?

If you are/were self employed before and after moving to another city, that would count as two jobs.

If you moved to another city and then became self employed, that would count as one job.

I went full-time on a job I had been in for about 2 years... Was there for 12years after that. In fact I got promoted to management not long after going full-time.

I transitioned in the job I still have. Most of my co-workers know me from pre-transition, and they have all been awesome! I have received yearly raises, and have never felt discriminated against or shunned by anyone at the company. About 95% of their employees work from home now, but I transitioned while going to the office daily. I've been working for Progressive nearly 20 years, and only have good things to say about them.

Love always -- Jessica Rose

I started HRT in March of 2015, went Full-Time in December of 2016, then I just about immediately
after going full-time quit my executive accounting job as a Department Head in a mid-size company.

I then relocated to small town Alaska life from Eastern Montana where I was born and raised on
my parents cattle ranch.  I loved the rural life, land, horses, life values, etc.

In early January 2017 I then started my own "woman owned" CPA and Financial Planning business that
serves private and business clients.

Plan to go to one of my first Blog Threads for more details    I am the Hunted Prey : Danielle's Chronicles (https://www.susans.org/index.php/topic,236395.0.html)

I transitioned at company I eventually retired from. My VP and Director were very supportive as were all my co-workers. My biggest concern was what the clients' reaction was going to be, as I would be going to their office as Ellen instead of <deadname>. However, both the VP and Director discussed it with their leadership, and they had no issues.

9 years at the job, transitioned, coming up on 7 more. While there are issues here, none of them are due to transitioning or gender. I went from an almost complete unknown to everyone knowing who I am, gossip and rumor mill very much alive .. it was quite the awakening  :o

@Danielle For some reason I kind of figured you were born on the ice, lol. Colour me shocked.

(also, you should make it easier for non-staff members to @ people. Give everyone the same deal. There's no reason not to, not these days. People shouldn't have to look up the member number in the age of social media. That's deliberately obtuse.)

I didn't think it was a staff-only function. Anyone can type @ followed by a user name. But you have to use the correct username. @Sephirah allows me to choose your user name, but @Lauren gives me a list of people who are not you.  ;D
@Danielle should be @Northern Star Girl, her username.

It is a staff only function, Lori.

You are staff. :)

If I type @Lori Dee then it doesn't give a link. It is a staff privilege. Everyone else has to use the [member=the number of whoever you want to talk to]member name (the @ is added automatically)[/member] because... reasons. This is the social media age, where that is basically standard. It should not be a privilege. Not if you want to attract members. Just saying. And I probably shouldn't have said anything but... this is why forums are dying out. Why membership is dying. Because you put really basic stuff behind walls.

Okay... I stand corrected. It used to be a staff only function. Seems it has been changed. Kudos. <3 Ignore everything I just said. :P

So if someone uses @ with the correct username, what does this trigger to the receiver (the person you used @ for, such as @Sephirah?

That is, does the receiver, in the case, @Sephirah get a notification or an alert?

Much like the notifications you get when someone likes or thank your post. Or that I quoted you in a post, it says that you were mentioned in a post. @ChrissyRyan

@Sephirah  @Lori Dee  @ChrissyRyan

I was gone all day while you 3 ladies were discussing and finally
correctly figuring out our Forum "@ mentions" function.

Just to set the record straight,
it was indeed a "staff only" function
until early 2020 and then after that
it became available to all members...
... and that was a good thing and an
improvement in how the Forum works
        for all of our members.

HUGS, Danielle

Lol, it seems Lori is correct that @Sephirah haven't updated the SMF software since 2020.

Sus...... 😂
