AT&T Inc. is no longer encouraging employees to wear pins that state their favored pronouns and has canceled a series of LGBTQ-friendly events in the most recent effort by a big company to roll back its diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
The company will no longer fund the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention group for LGBTQ+ youth, or Turn Up the Love, a series of Pride events that partnered with musical artists.
AT&T joins more than two dozen companies — from Amazon.com Inc. to Walmart Inc. — that have made changes to their DEI programs in the face of threats of boycotts, lawsuits and more recently, federal prosecution. The pressure increased after Trump's Attorney General Pam Bondi set a March 1 deadline for a report outlining potential targets among companies and other non-governmental organizations for investigation of DEI practices.
Federal contractors such as Citigroup Inc. , Accenture Plc and Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corp. have announced rollbacks since Trump's inauguration.
Other communications companies, like AT&T, that are regulated by the Federal Communications Commission have recently found themselves in FCC Chair Brendan Carr's crosshairs. Carr sent letters to Comcast Corp. and Verizon Communications Inc., demanding that they cease DEI programs.
---------------------------------
It is a sad day when multi-billion dollar private corporations give in to bureaucrats to remain on the dole for government funding. It would be nice to see just one of these giants stand up and say, "No thanks. Keep your money. We don't need it."

It really is a sad day....but I think this illustrates that those of us in the LGBTQ community were nothing more than customers to these companies. To me and others I know it rang hollow seeing corps in pride parades.
Costco is the only company I am aware of that has held out in this DEI avalanche going on now. If there was a store close to me, that's where I'd take my money.

Quote from: Princess Rachel Ann on April 06, 2025, 11:16:13 AMI always knew it was fake for a lot of these companies. I had a feeling.Me, too, Princess Rachel Ann. But we have authentic heroes in our midst. I can't remember names, because heroes don't need names. But for example, the woman who washed her hands in a Florida bathroom. The Chloe who proudly proclaimed she had a penis. And everyone who passes through Susan's Place. With so many heroes at our side, I think we're going to be okay.

Yesterday April 5th was the day for the "Hands Off" gatherings all around this country. I live in a very small, rural town and was surprised at the turn out we had!
Even as small and isolated as this place is, I wasn't the only trans folk there!
So yeah, yesterday I got to see a lot of heros! that makes me happy in these rough times!

Same with funding stuff I believe in, as I have no money.

I'm shopping around to replace AT&T, I've been with them (through their various company names) for over 30 years.
Thus far, T-Mobile looks the most promising. I'm getting a price quote now.
