Title: I made the decision...
Post by: Zoey Addisyn on March 29, 2025, 09:06:15 AM
I have decided to move forward with Vaginoplasty. I'm scheduled for surgery with Dr Christine McGinn at the Papillion Center in New Hope, PA on Nov 11, 2025. Dr. McGuinn, a transgender woman herself, has a reputation as a world class surgeon, whose work has been compared with Dr Banks at the Suporn Clinic in Thailand and Dr Bluebond-Langner in New York. Dr. McGuinn and I seemed to have a great connection during our recent consult. I am grateful to have found a surgeon I'm comfortable with and that I trust to do an amazing job. It is a plus that she is also available to move forward with surgery this year. I'm so excited to begin this next chapter of my life.

Hugs,
Z

For those interested here is some info (from the web) on Dr. Mcguinn:

Born and raised in Bucks County, Dr McGuinn graduated from Moravian College in Bethlehem in 1991 and received a doctor of osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995. After joining the U.S. Navy in 1997, McGinn served as a lieutenant and a senior flight surgeon for the Navy, which included serving as flight surgeon for two NASA space shuttle missions. In 2000, she was nominated for Flight Surgeon of the Year. The same year, she left the Navy to begin her own transition.

Dr. McGinn is a Plastic Surgeon whose formal training was tailored specifically to transgender surgery in addition to all aspects of both General and Plastic Surgery. Since her transition, she has been an activist and speaker on gender variant issues. She is the founder of Papillon Gender Wellness Center, a comprehensive gender support center that includes a variety of professional services in addition to Plastic Surgery. The focus of Dr. McGinn's practice is not only providing plastic and reconstructive surgery services, but also to promote the importance of a holistic approach to the care of gender variant individuals to include preventive medicine, research, community outreach, primary care and therapeutic support systems. Of special interest to Dr. McGinn are long-term outcomes to gender confirmation surgery and contra-hormone therapy as they relate to improved quality of life and sexual health for gender variant individuals.

Thanks Lori Dee! My choice was between Dr McGuinn and three other surgeons.

Dr Praful Rahmenini (DC) - Did a consult. Lots of red flags. Ruled him out quickly.

Dr John Stranix (UVA) - Consult was scheduled for May. Lots of gatekeeping with the UVA Bureaucracy. Two year waitlist.

Dr Gabriel Del Corral (Baltimore) - Consult scheduled for June 9. He takes my insurance and already got preauthorization for surgery. The staff is helpful but a little overwhelmed by the volume of patients. Surgery most likely 1 year from the consult.

McGuinn was a little off of my radar initially, but she checked all of my boxes. Reputation for great aesthetics and function. Her staff is very responsive and kind. Surgery date in 2025. All of the anxieties that I had about choosing the right surgeon have disappeared since I decided to go with her..

Congrats Zoey!!!

In every bold step there is liberation of spirit!... My surgeon was Dr Marci Bowers... aside from her being one of the best and being local as well... I was heartened that she was a trans woman as well.

All Shall Be Well!

Onward Brave Sister!

Definitely a bold step. I not only admire your courage and resolve, but also your decision-making process. Thanks, Kat, for reminding me that big steps can be taken.

Zoey! I apologize and promise to pay more attention before I post again. That whole decision-making process thing I mentioned earlier.
