Have you ever rode in a "classic London Taxi"?

I have heard that these taxis are of a distinctive style, made similarly for many years.
They are typically black.

But there are other colors for taxicabs in London too I hear.

Many times.  Any time we went on vacation, always by train of course, we'd ride to the station in a taxi.  Most often, it would be the old Austin FX3 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_FX3#/media/File:1957_Austin_FX3.JPG) model.  The passenger (left front) side was open instead of having a door, and that was where the luggage went.  Though there was also a "boot" [Amer.: trunk] for small items.

When we emigrated to Canada, we spent a few days in London on our way to the ship.  The London cabs by that time were the newer, classic "black cab" design that most people are familiar with.
