Story by Sarah Barrett (23 April 2025)

Pedro Pascal is set to be one of the biggest stars of the MCU going forward, as he's playing Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The star of The Last of Us wore a "Protect the Dolls" t-shirt to the Thunderbolts* premiere in Leicester Square, London. "Dolls" is a nickname for trans women, and their rights were recently dealt a significant blow by the UK Supreme Court.

Pascal has always been outspoken about transgender rights, as his sister is trans. Back in February, he made a post in support of trans rights on his Instagram. Beneath a photo of a sticker reading "A world without trans people has never existed and never will" he wrote, "I can't think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist."

The shirt Pascal wore to the Thunderbolts* premiere was designed by Conner Ives and all the proceeds from it go towards the charity Trans Lifeline. "I knew I wanted to say something, given what we've observed in the last few months with the U.S. government and the current political regime," Ives told the New York Times recently. Pascal isn't the only celebrity who's been wearing the shirt in the past few months - Addison Rae, Troye Silvan and Tilda Swinton have also all been photographed in it.

People like Pedro, David Tennant and Will Ferrell are the kinds of people not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. What most people should hold true... but don't. It's easy to sit in an armchair hating on the world except for when it affects someone close to you. Then you get a wakeup call and realise the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. And you can't just blindly follow the syrupy swill you get fed. Stuff matters. People matter.

Good on him.

Oh, sure. Go ahead and burst my bubble.

What's next? You'll tell me unicorns aren't real?
