What is your preferred length, if any, for a skirt, dress, or shorts?

I usually prefer long dresses. But, a few days ago, I accidentally bought a dress with a hem so high it doesn't cover my butt when I sit down. I only wear it when I'm alone pretending I'm still eighteen.

I have always preferred just above the knee. Not just on me, but others too. It is short enough to show off the legs, but not so short as to show too much.

My grandfather said to me long ago:

"If women's dresses get any shorter than they are these days,
They'll have two more cheeks to powder,
And another place to shave."

Well, guess what, Grandpa?  ;D

Less to shave with lasering.

You meant the legs, right?

Yeah, right.

I have four knee length golfing skorts.

Generally below the knee.  I have some lovely swishy ankle-length skirts, and a couple of summery skirts that are just above the knee.  Anything shorter than that is quite age-inappropriate.

I do not have any really short dress or skirts, skorts, and shorts.  However some of my PJ tops are be shorter than perhaps they should be, if nothing is worn below!  Sitting down with those may be quite revealing.

But, that is different of course than dress or skirts, skorts, and shorts.

I would say close to the knees for me.

I do love a long flowing dress (with a nice pair of heels) although my favourite is just above the knee to show some leg - but not too much.

I have been wearing mid-thigh length denim shorts every day this summer. I know that I'm probably far too old for them but I do like the look of smooth, tanned legs.

Many, many years ago a girl told me I had nice legs. It seemed a very odd thing to say to a young man at the time but I've never forgotten it. Unfortunately I have thick, unsightly varicose veins now!

A high waisted, stretchy pencil skirt that hits just above the knees

I can understand that desire.  Why not?

I leave my legs to be noticeable more with shorts.

I think I would be a bit embarrassed with a really short skirt.

If you are comfortable though wearing the shorter skirts, good for you!

I am wearing a pink floral maxi dress today with pintucking and it has a slightly puffy sleeve at the top of the sleeves.  I have received a couple of compliments about it at work.  It is nice to wear something new and pretty.  It has lots of little flowers and I like it.

I decided to get a similar blue dress with white flowers.
It has a nice flow on the bottom.

I share Chrissy's fashion preferences though in the heat of early August I often go with higher hems or thin cotton fabric. Except for the occasional neighbor driving past, no one ever sees me in a dress.

For me, the outside heat does not matter because I am working inside.

I still wear pants and jeans more than skirts or dresses.  Dresses though can look very nice.
On me, a few actually do look nice.

During summer I like knee length maybe a little bit higher for skirts/dresses but winter time I like calf length. I had to wear pants for 55 years I really try to avoid them now.

I like the new high tech SPF50 fabrics in the summer.  They are great if you get caught outside in the rain.
I'll wear a crop top with 2inch hem shorts, but have gone no shorter than 2 inches.
I found a pair of Bonobos guy golf shorts that are knee length with a 28 inch waist that fits me surprisingly well.  ;D I heard they are their most popular product which meant they could make it in that size.

Golf shorts are meant to be worn with tucked in polos and belts.      Most women's golf tops are meant to be worn untucked as women's skirts don't have belt loops.    I've purchased woman's golf shorts sans belt loops.  It can be complicated putting an outfit together when you are small like me and can't buy regular men's clothing.   Sometimes they sell  only  XS tops but not bottoms or vice versa.   It is like they don't want to sell to small guys.

I did get my blue floral dress.  It is not exactly the same as the pink one, but similar.
This one is a bit tighter on me so I may need to size up.  It is more figure revealing overall because it feels tighter, as it is tighter.

That is something you will find out about women's clothes if you have not already.  A particular size varies in fit much more than what is evident for most regular cut men's clothes.

If I keep this one, it would cling to my breasts tighter than the pink dress, so they would be emphasized.  But it is tighter all over.  As I like it, I will for sure get one size up.

I like the material too.  It is wonderful wearing such nice clothes, they can be so pretty.

I sent back this one and ordered the larger one today.  It is nice to be able to not have to pay extra for returns.  I realize that return fee is included in the prices of goods sold so indirectly I am paying but I do not have to use extra cash to pay for the return.

They delivered my replacement blue floral dress last evening.  That was quick.  I washed it and may wear it today or tomorrow.  It fits nicely.

I wish when I was growing up I could have worn the appropriate clothes.  My hair was a little long and I think I could have blended in as just another one of the girls when I started school with the proper hair styling and dress and being with the girls as another girl.

But later came facial hair and muscles, all well.  Plus shorter hair.  Not the correct appearance!
