So... here's an interesting question for you folks. If you were asked to sum up yourself into one part of a human body, what would you be and why? Legs? Arms? Spleen? The remnants of a tail that only internet cosplayers still make use of? I can kind of take a wild guess when it comes to some folks, but I'd he interested in what you come up with. :)

I think I'd be the ribcage.

Not just because I've held my breath in silence for most of my life, protecting a heart I wasn't always allowed to show.

But because I've been the quiet structure, the unseen strength beneath everything, guarding something sacred until it was safe to let it breathe.

The ribcage doesn't speak. It just holds.

And for decades, I held in the girl I am now becoming tender, defiant, alive.

Now, little by little, I'm learning to open up... not break open, but open with grace, like a flower pushing through the bones.

Becoming isn't easy. But it's beautiful. 🌷

Throwing caution to the wind, as I am often wont to do, and after careful but, perhaps, indiscrete consideration: the tongue.
