Title: Hip augmentation
Post by: Medical_Access6389 on July 03, 2025, 09:07:13 AM
Hi! A few years back I had a hip augmentation surgery with implants that did not turn out the way I wanted... Since then I've been trying to figure out how to fix the situation and I'm currently desperately trying to gain weight so I can remove the implants and instead do a fat transfer. However, it is very difficult for me to gain weight which is why I didn't do a fat transfer in the first place.

So now I want to reach out to the community to ask for your experiences regarding hip augmentation. Has anyone tried any method other than implants or fat that was successful? And does anyone have recomendations for surgeons who specialize in the field of hip augmentation? I've found a few in the US but since I live in Europe I would love to hear if someone knows any good surgeon around here. I could of course go back to the surgeon who performed the first surgery but since I wasn't happy with the results I am trying to look into other options.

I would be super grateful to hear your experiences regarding this topic! <3

Hello Medical Access

My name is Sarah and I would like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

It must be noted that women come in all shapes and sizes and everyone here values that variety.  Your openness takes courage and you are among friends.

Could you share a little more about why the first implant surgery did not meet your expectations and what you most hope to feel or see after a revision? Knowing the details helps the group give practical advice that fits your goals.

Please keep two safety points in mind.  Implant based hip work can carry risks such as infection or implants shifting out of position which may mean further surgery if the result changes over time.  With fat transfer about half of the injected fat can be re-absorbed by the body within the first months so final volume may be less than planned.

If you decide to consult another surgeon here are specialists in Europe who list hip augmentation among their regular procedures:

  • Mr Omar Tillo MD FRCS(Plast) – Harley Street London UK
  • Dr Veerle Rotsaert MD FEBOPRAS – London Welbeck Hospital UK
  • Dr Alexander Hamers MD – Private practice Malaga Spain

Each offers online consultations so you can discuss options without immediate travel.  The community looks forward to hearing more about your needs and supporting your next steps.

Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the Introductions Forum (https://www.susans.org/index.php/board,8.0.html), of course.   I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these as well.

Please keep in mind when posting that this is an ALL AGES PUBLIC Forum and the internet never forgets.   Do not post anything that you do not want to be made public.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I will be looking into those options.

As for more details, I started ny transition 2015 when I was 15 years old and have been taking hormone replacement therapy since 2018. In 2021 I had FFS and decided to do the hip implants right after because I was insecure about the shape of my body. I had initially looked into methods using fat (or a combination of implants and fat) but my surgeon said that there was no fat to work with and we could go ahead with just implants. I should have looked further into how the result would actually look, because as I said I am unhappy with it. One side is slightly lower than the other but the main problem is just the fact that there is very clearly an implant. It's difficult to explain but it basically just looks like a bump on the hip rather than an actual hip, and you can see the contours of the implant around the whole thing.

In hindsight I don't think using implants (at least alone) is ever going to look good. After getting my SRS at the beginning of the year I feel like I finally need to get it together with this last problem that has been bothering me so I can be happy with myself. I think the solution would be, considering my previous statement, to remove the implants and hopefully perform a fat transfer to the area. I've been trying, and am currently trying more than ever, to gain as much weight as I can so that such an option could be viable and during the summer I'm hoping to talk to surgeons regarding my situation and the options I have. But any other ideas for what I could do would be appreciated! My goal is just to have a body that looks like a normal human but hopefully to not completely go back to the narrow hips I had before so that everything was in vain, and also considering that the skin in the area probably would be loose and look weird anyway if I just remove the implants.

As for gaining weight you could try to just eat fast food all the time and limit your exercise, this is prob the least healthy option for you.

You could try to workout lower body more with specific emphasis on exercises that would build muscle in the hip, glute, thigh area. This is probably the healthiest option but keep in mind that it will only be able to get you so far, also you'd have to eat in surplus calories to build the muscle as well, not to mention prob takes the longest to achieve.

Other than that I have heard of rib cage remodeling where they partially crack your lower ribs and have you wear a corset while they heal, and they heal in a new place creating more of the hour glass figure. Not sure how well this works, it's relatively new procedure. Haven't heard too many people talk about it other than plastic surgeons on YouTube. Supposedly it's a pretty easy procedure, relatively pain free and an easy recovery compared to other gender affirming surgeries there are.

Fat transfer would prob be the best option if you were able to figure out how to gain weight in a healthy manner while continuing the eat healthy and exercise.

There are trainers out there that help trans individuals with their goals to either help them achieve a more feminine figure or masc figure through diet and exercise. Maybe look into them. If you want to message me privately I can give you a few people I know of that specialize in this kind of personal training.
