Microsoft executive Megan Wallent, née Michael Wallent, has been keeping track of the number of times she's been called "Sir." It doesn't bother Wallent particularly. Even Tilda Swinton, the androgynous star of Orlando gets addressed with the male honorific...

I can't believe how little effort this person has put in her voice!!
Its truly pathetic!! Her voice is not even that low and it would take
just a little bit of work to make it work.

And the article says, she's being called sir because she didn't have a voice op!
ARGGG. Like you need that to change the voice, where did that person pick
that info up!!

I can't see a sir in Tilda Swinton seriously by her face.
It must be because she's 5 foot 11.
That's what I've realized, no matter how I look,
when your 6 foot tall, some people will sir you (very
are these days, but it happens, especially when people
approach me from the back).

Yeah.  She says on her blog that she finds the voice too personal to go changing it.  Whatever floats her boat, but it seems like consigning oneself to the gender ghetto to not even try...

Let's keep in mind that it is Her choice to make. If she doesn't want to change her voice that's her right.

Yes, it is totally her right.  But it is potentially very dangerous territory, in terms of how people treat you and  especially if one were to lose their job and need another.  Again, her choice; I'm just saying that maybe the ramifications of that choice haven't been considered.

Also, with a voice like that, she is call sir on the phone all the time for sure!!
For me, that would be like nails on a chalkboard and I just don't get it.

Also, if it wasn't issue, there wouldn't be an article about it. So, hey!
Either there is no issue and we don't hear about it, or there is an
issue and she needs to fix it. Why else did she mention this?
