Do you sleep well most nights?
Do you get enough sleep?
Do you wake up too often at nights?
Did your sleep patterns change after starting to transition?
I need to get back to sleep!

No, not at all.
But that has nothing to do with transition. It is a combination of PTSD and pain issues from spine injuries.
Progesterone helps me sleep better, allowing me to sleep more deeply and get enough rest. But I still wake up three or four times each night.

I slept better the first few nights after I started HRT. My sleep pattern is messed up from being a shift worker.

From a very young age I have always been a "night owl" and sometimes work till
early morning and finally going to bed at 3 or 4 AM to get a few hours of sleep.
When I was younger I could do that without affecting the next day but as I get
older I am not quite as flexible with my sleep schedule although I am still a
night owl to a certain extent.

Since my neighbours dog passed away in October I have needed chemical assistance to sleep. Mostly it's melatonine but sometimes I need edibles

Always worked shifts. Now I'm retired in going to bed around 2300 and get up around 0530. Rarely sleep well and often wake up too early and can't get back to sleep.

I think that explains how you can tolerate months of "Midnight Sun". ;D

I was night owl when I was younger too. I took my college classes at night. I've worked afternoons for the last 10 years which absolutely love working.

I've never slept good. I can get the hours but never feel rested. I started taking Trazadone and it helps. Brain doesn't like to shut off

Work pretty much depletes every last bit of energy from me so I sleep every night well during the week. Weekends can be hit and miss. If I go out and use my energy I sleep OK. If I sleep all day then I struggle to sleep at night!
Really its mostly down to energy levels for me.

I lay down, normally out within 10-15 minutes until alarm or the pups walk over me and want out. 😄

My watch tracks my sleep. I average 7.5 hours of sleep. Definitely not enough sleep

Chrissy, that made me laugh. Really, 4 in the morning, you really did need to get back to sleep.
I've been sleeping 6-7 hours a night for as long as I can remember. Generally I'm right to sleep and out for the night.
Paulie.

It seems almost like you have been practicing your whole life, and now you are good at it.

Hi, so I do sleep an average of 5-6 hours for different work reasons.
I love to get my 8 hours sleep, when I have the chance, which is not very often.
Have my sleep patterns changed since I started transitioning...not so much. Other that evey now an then I get hot flushes at night, which wake me up, but other than that, time for sleep is precious and I try to make the best out of it.
Anne ❤️

So I, on average, get about 7 hours but I usually end up taking a morning and afternoon nap... so I am totalling 8-9 hours of sleep per day and I get along with that just fine.

Hormones are related to sleep, and periods of low estradiol levels can lead to poor sleep. I have had some periods when I knew my hormone levels were not right as I had menopausal symptoms. Levels can drop even with consistency doses if receptors block or if you become resistant to things like patches. So if you are experiencing menopausal symptoms like sweats or poor sleep, it pays to get your levels checked.
I am currently lowering my doses as I have finished medical transition, and sweats and poor sleep were indicators that we had gone too low. A couple of days of increase doses and I was sleeping normally.
Hugs,
Allie

I can sleep standing up! I find after eating my dinner watching TV I can "lose " 20mins! Apart from having to go to the bathroom between 3 and 4 am most nights I sleep fine but have been having some odd dreams lately.
