Title: (FtM) What is something you love about being who you currently are?
Post by: Adrian26 on July 30, 2025, 02:21:38 PM
Since I know this part of the forum is far too lonely. What is something you love about being who you currently are. I know I should put this in a different thread, but this thread is dry and dead. If any admin feels the need to move it then by all means go ahead, but I'm just putting it where no one wants to talk

Is this limited to FTM perspectives?

Yes. This is the FtM forum. We want to hear from our guys out there. There aren't as many, so this forum does get quiet. But we want you all to know that you are welcome here, and we truly want to hear from you.

Please?  :)

{Edit: I renamed the topic to clarify.)

Yo, Adrian!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.  ;D

I think the lack of actievity in the guy's sections simply reflects the fact that they don't really need the same level of support. I know quite a few guys, they took care of what they needed to and just get on with life.

I'm not going to demean or belittle anyone's experience, but I think it's fair to say it's an easier path for the guys. Blending in is potentially easier.

What the guys I know seem to enjoy is the same as the women; the joy of being themselves. Of finally feeling comfortable with themselves and the skin they're in. They like their muscles, and their deep voices. And do they love their beards!  :)

Hugs, Devlyn

Yeah, sadly I'm not there yet. Probably won't be ever, but I'm happy being how I am. Being a bi trans man has its perks.

One day you will, I'm certain of it. Just being happy as yourself is a huge W.

@Devlyn   @Adrian26
Dear Devlyn and Adrian

Devlyn: I agree with what you stated....

I do know many cis-girls and cis-woment that have always been buying and wearing men's clothing, either for themshelves, boyfriends, or partners.  No one bats an eye when a woman is going through the men's section at a clothing store, and no one thinks much of it when a female is purchasing and/or wearing men's shirts, jeans, shoes, etc.....
HOWEVER, and it is a BIG HOWEVER
if a male, or even a transitioning MTF that may not be passing well, is in the woman's section of a clothing store and is looking at and/or purchasing obvious women's clothing, (especially panties and bras) and other items that are considered "female" it does definitely raise the eyebrows of other shoppers and sometimes the sales clerks and cash resister clerks at the store. .... so in that sense it does make an easier path for the FTMs... and I also wish to make it clear... I'm not going to demean or belittle anyone's experiences... BOTH of the FTM and MTF transitioners have their own hoops to jump through in their journeys.

HUGS, Danielle

What I love about being myself...

I am no longer angry at everything, my patience has significantly improved, and I can finally wear the clothes I have always wanted to wear without worrying if I will be 'caught'.

Love always -- Jessica Rose

I love that I am absolutely wide-open to discovering what is true about me and then finding ways to live from that truth. I am not just selecting from packages on a menu or even the a la carte section; I'm looking and feeling beyond the menu to try to identify what it means to be me, even if that ends up being unlike anything I've seen anywhere in my life (which is likely). This is new for me, and I doubt it's sustainable for the duration of my life, so I'm appreciating every moment of it while I'm here.

But, @Adrian26, what is your answer to your question?

The thing I love about being who I am is that I finally feel like I'm becoming the person I should've been. I feel like my true self now. I'm expressing myself in a way that feels right to me.

And that's the point of transitioning into who you're supposed to be

I think the lack of activity in the guy's sections simply reflects the fact that they don't really need the same level of support. I know quite a few guys, they took care of what they needed to and just get on with life.

Yeah this is kind of right. Being here for not far off 20 years at this point... guys come and go, because you're guys. Support is not a manly thing, lol. It just isn't. You're supposed to be the support. I don't think it's necessarily a case of trans guys not having as many issues, as much as it is you are just guys. You want to figure things out on your own and not need other people to tell you what to do, or how to think. Trust me, most of us trans girls have been subjected to the same kind of stuff growing up. And had to shake it off. But it's a very guy way of thinking that you really can't help. It's something we've had to overcome to embrace the other side of things. Many trans girls have a tough time asking for, or admitting we need help because it's been drilled into us from an early age that we should never ask for, or need it.

You guys kind of get that on an instinctual level. Which is both weird to me and also kind of telling about who you are. I think that's mostly why you don't stick around. I think that's changing these days, though. Where mental health is a more talked about thing, and it's okay for guys to talk about this stuff and admit that they aren't the lone cowboy, so to speak.

Even if you do make the world's best steak, Adrian. :P

But to answer your question... what I love about being who I am is being able to empathise with people, and able to talk with people. Physically I am Frankenstein's monster but I can talk to anyone and (hopefully) help people feel better about themselves. I consider that a gift. When someone else smiles, I smile.

I don't know about the us having it easier part, but I do get where you're coming from. We all have our struggles, I just believe that we get more expected of us to not care about how we feel as trans guys.
