Hi all. Title basically, I have my consult in December and I'm so, SO excited. I never thought I'd reach this point in my life but here we are lol. I am however also scared.. And anxious that for some reason I might be denied or told "no" but more than anything else I think what I am most afraid of is for some reason not being able to have a full depth possible.. I'll explain a bit:
I've done a lot of research on the topic of bottom surgery. Perhaps too much now to the point I feel anxiety over waiting for my consultation :embarrassed: I have read a story or two about girls who ended up with either 0 depth or only like 2-3 inches due to scarring in their rectum from "too much anal sex" apparently. However this seems to only be with Dr. Chettawut and I'm not going with him I'm going with a Dr. in the US. I want so badly to have a usable amount of depth with the procedure but I am kind of in a weird state of trying to brace myself for whatever may happen and.. Also just being excited to be able to move forward with this opportunity either way. I am worried because my gastroenterologist has told me that I have a tiny piece of granulation tissue in my rectum (He found it during a colonoscopy a few years ago -.- ) and now I'm scared it could prevent me from having a standard 5 inches of depth.. But of course this is all a what if. I know ultimately it will be up to what my surgeon says. I plan on telling her about it in the consult and am hoping it will not cause any issues. Here's hoping!
I guess I'm posting this here to ask other girls about their experiences on the matter and if this is mostly a thing with specific surgeons.
Quick edit: also if you all have any questions I think i should ask my gastro or the surgeon please share! I've got a list of questions I intend to go over with my surgeon for the consultation but I can always use more good ideas.

Hi Nikki and welcome. You will receive other official welcomes, but here's mine anyway :)
Other gals on here will know far more than I on this topic, but can I just check if you are planning on a penile inversion or a sigmoid colon version? If it's the former, then providing the depth is not too great it shouldn't affect the rectal area?
xx

Nikki, we need to choose the type of surgery which gives us the outcomes important to us, and there are many options. Penile inversion will depend on available tissue, Sigmoid Colon the same, but these are just 2 procedures. If they are not suitable, you should consider Peritoneal Pull Through Vaginaplasty, where the vaginal canal is created and lined with the Peritoneal tissue from inside your tummy. A variation of this is incorporating Tunica Vaginalis tissue from a scrotum, which is essentially the same as Peritoneal tissue in that it creates a biome identical to natal vaginal tissue.
All these methods have advantages and disadvantages, and they can be used in combination with each other, i.e. I know of a surgeon who uses penile inversion for the entry of the vagina, then peritoneal tissue to line much of the canal. So, if you can't get the results you require from one surgeon, look for another who can deliver on your needs. This is a very important decision as it affects the rest of your life, so learn as much as you can and choose what is right for you!
Hugs,
Allie

Ty for the explanation Allie!
Yeah I'm mostly considering inversion but I'll likely go over all of it with my surgeon. I plan on making a post with updates that can hopefully help other girls along the way with their own journey.
I guess I should do a proper introduction in the introductions forum I just have so many questions about GRS I wanted to dive straight in lol forgive me Lori.

It is perfectly understandable. No harm done. We look forward to meeting you. :)
