Title: I'm 10 years on hormones and I think I got misgendered.

I'm 10 years on hormones and a stranger asked me for directions the other day and after I told him them, He said "thanks Man" and fist bumped me. My husband doesn't think I was being misgendered but I can't help to think that I was. What are the chances that I was misgendered? It came as a shock because I haven't been misgendered in like 8 years.

Angelique!
Good to see you around here sister!... I believe these days "man" and "dude" seem to be equally applied many times to both men and women... You are gorgeous girl and I think your worries are misplaced!
Hugs!

Hi, Angélique,
Welcome back!
I think Ash is right. I call everyone "guys".
"Hey, guys, let's go do ..."
I am working on changing to "gals," but it is an old habit. I wouldn't fret about it. Sometimes people are too focused on other things to notice details.
I get "sir" from panhandlers more than anyone else. "Excuse me? Is my jewelry blinding you so you can't see my cleavage? Here, let me dig in my purse and find you a quarter." UGH.
Now, I just say "No, I am not a sir."
Welcome back!

People call women "Man" and "dude" all the time, Angelique. Ash and Lori are right. I have seen this multiple times. Hell, women even call other women "dude". The first time I saw this I thought it was extremely weird but whatever. It is a thing. It's just a default. Becky Lynch in the WWE is literally called "The Man". Roll with it, honey. It was nothing against you and this person probably thought nothing of it. Don't let it bother you, okay?
*hugs*
