Title: What do you do in terms of exercise?
Post by: CosmicJoke on December 30, 2025, 01:40:09 PM
Hi everyone. I use something called a "Treadclimber." I usually burn up to about 50 or 60 calories on it. That's just enough to get my heart going and to work up a little bit of a sweat. Sometimes I walk outdoors too, but this time of year is difficult for that. Anything involving weights I don't bother with.

So what do you do in terms of exercise?

I try to run 3 to 6 miles twice a week.

I move rocks, carry 5-gallon buckets of wet gravel short distances, and hike (with or without a small or large backpack).

In the winter, most of my activities are indoors, doing research, reading old mining journals, and checking maps. It sounds sedentary, but my watch tells me that I average between a quarter and a half-mile of walking each day. If it is a grocery shopping day, that number triples because nothing I need is conveniently located near the store entrances.

I workout 3 days a week. Mostly Weight training. I do weight training, and start running towards the end of winter. I just broke my own record on the bench press yesterday. I have a physical job, and walk close to 8 miles by the end of the night. I'm a cyclist as well.

Cycling is good and fun.

Watch out for the cars though!

I go to a fitness gym several times a week and use an elliptical machine for aerobic exercise. It is much easier on the joints than running, which I used to do. It is fun to look around and imagine being dressed like the women there. 😊

Very little though I'm active at work, go on lots of walks. I'm going to get back to running 5k in the next weeks to get strong for my op.

Despite this all I outstamina my younger bf and colleagues 😀

Nothing. Absolutely nothing in terms of exercise. As I'm writing this I'm thinking I know what my New Year's resolution should be. I just wish I wasn't so lazy to get started.

My "problem" is that I carry my age well and my weight is not a problem because I do lots of intermittent fasting. So physically I look ok for my age which gives me an excuse not to exercise. I know I should exercise though. I'm just so lazy about it.

I use a Peloton that a friend gave us. He originally bought it for his wife, but she never used it. Luckily, you do not need a subscription. I normally exercise three times a week for one hour. It helps me keep my weight in check, and I don't feel guilty when I have some cookies or ice cream.

Love always -- Jessica Rose

Walking is about the best thing you can do to lose weight. Outside of swimming. But we don't all have a pool in the back yard, lol. Back when I had use of my legs, I would walk 5 miles a day, 5 days a week. And lost 70 lbs. It is very low impact. Won't tear up your joints. If you can, get a rucksack and put about 10-20 lbs in it. That will almost double the calories you burn. You don't have to do extreme stuff to get in shape. You just have to find something that works and stick with it.

The simple truth, though, is that you can't outwork a bad diet. When you have your eating habits in the right place, exercise is the icing on a protein cake. Intermittent fasting is a very good thing. When you put your body into Ketosis, you just burn fat because it has no other fuel. Combine that with low intensity workouts and the weight just melts off you. :) I would burn 1200 calories in a single walk. I think because I was tall and... meaty. But these high intensity short things... you'll put it all back on with like 10 Pringles. :P

Boxing. Plus I do some cardio at home on my elliptical machine and use some VR fitness apps.
