Title: Sorry about the downtime!
Post by: Susan on December 30, 2025, 08:52:19 PM
I installed a new router this afternoon—the first router upgrade since 2013. While the internal network functioned correctly, I found out traffic from the server to the external network was disrupted. I traced the issue to an incorrect routing entry, and once it was removed, normal service was fully restored.

I apologize for the downtime and any inconvenience this may have caused. As this is new hardware, please let me know if you notice any changes or unexpected behavior compared to how things operated previously.

Apologetically,
— Susan 💜

Things never seem to go as easily as we imagine them to.

Murphy's Law #127:

"It is a mistake to allow any mechanical object to know that you are in a hurry."

I think this applies to electronic objects too.

Thanks, Susan. We appreciate all that you do for us behind the scenes.

I've also recently installed a new internal statistics system and am about halfway through importing 83 million historical web requests records. This process will likely take another couple of days to complete and may occasionally result in brief periods of elevated server load. Any such notices are expected and are unrelated to the new router.

Oh, is that why it wouldn't load last night? It's all fine this morning.
