                                      NEW FORUM Board:  Incarceration                                           

We have added a new childboard (sub-forum) titled "Incarceration" under the Transitioning forum to
better support transgender people whose transition journeys include incarceration or reentry after release.

This decision was prompted by a recent introduction from a new member who shared how incarceration
shaped their life, their transition, and the challenges they are now facing.  Another member stepped in to
gently remind them that they are not the only one here with that experience.
That exchange made something very clear: these conversations are already happening, but they need a
dedicated place where people can find each other more easily.

While related topics can overlap with Legal Matters, Medical, or Real-Life Experience discussions,
incarceration brings unique barriers that deserve focused attention.
Access to medical care, name and document changes, parole and probation conditions, employment challenges,
and personal safety often function very differently inside the system and during reentry.

This new forum is intended for transgender people who are currently incarcerated, those navigating reentry
after release, partners and families supporting incarcerated loved ones, and members helping others work
through these systems.

By creating a single, focused forum, we aim to make it easier for members in these situations to connect,
share practical information, and support one another without needing to repeatedly explain their circumstances.

after release.
