Today, activists across the U.S. are aiming to take Minnesota's recent general strike in protest of the Trump administration's brutal enforcement of its immigration policies nationwide, calling on Americans to stay home from work and school and to refrain from buying anything.
Apart from National Shutdown's call for "no school, no work and no shopping," today, activists are urging people to take action, participating in protests and demonstrations across the country.
Earlier this month, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine published an exhaustive list of mutual aid organizations you can donate to, including rent funds and food assistance for families who have been affected by ICE raids or have been forced to remain home for weeks for fear of being detained by federal agents.
The magazine also has information about rent support organizations that could use financial help, as well as food deliveries for people who can't go out because of ICE agents even arresting people who have a right to be in the U.S. if they are people of color, and other immigrant rights groups.
But even if you're unable to strike today due to economic circumstances or lack of childcare, you can still help. On Thursday, Durham, North Carolina, small business Bright Black posted a list of ways, including canceling subscriptions to companies that support ICE and the Trump administration, contacting lawmakers to demand they defund or abolish ICE, amplifying the call for the strike, and supporting those who are striking — including businesses that closed today.

I think the reality is as long as Trump is still in office he has all the power. He still has too much Republican support currently and that's probably not going to die down until the midterms (maybe.)

I don't think ICE should be abolished, but everyone needs to get back in their lanes.
The Border Patrol should be patrolling the border, not invading cities inside the U.S.
ICE should be enforcing immigration and customs, which is mostly done at international ports of entry. Where they have a criminal warrant (not an administrative warrant) or a court order for removal, then their duties should be done within the constraints of constitutional rights. They should be held to the same standards as any other local or state law enforcement agency.
Their role lately has been obvious by their activity. When you have a "commander" (Greg Bovino) traveling with his own film crew, that is not enforcement. That is propaganda. I am glad to see him go, but the show will go on until enough outrage is demonstrated to tell the Administration to get back in their lane.

Unfortunately we saw during Biden's term that the man doesn't even need to be in office or be actively part of the party to cause problems.
The House and Senate had a Bipartisan border spending bill that would have been easily passed that would have put more agents on the actual border, upgraded technology at border crossings and increased pay.
And then Trump said that the Republicans can't pass that because "you can't make Biden look good" and ordered the Republicans in the house and senate to nuke it and it didn't pass.
And the sad reality is regardless of which political party wins the next presidential election or who takes Congress in these upcoming mid-terms that a moral judgement has been made by both sides based solely on whether or not you have a blue D or red R next to your name.
