Title: Hello
Post by: sunbaby74 on February 03, 2026, 06:50:33 AM
Hi,

I am a woman in my early 40s who will soon have FFS with Deschamps Braly. I came out late in life. I have two beautiful children, four and twelve. I live in the Midwest USA.

Hello and welcome!

To me (62), you came out early, so it's all relative. I hope things are going well for you and that you feel comfortable in your life.

Are you in a fairly trans-tolerant place in the Midwest?

Hiya! Welcome to the group

I'm a newbie to the forum too. You will find the people on here are a friendly bunch and it's full of great information.

Good luck with your FFS. I'm hoping that will be on the cards for me in the not too distant future.

Hi there, and welcome to Susan's Place. 😊

Thank you for introducing yourself — and congratulations on coming out and stepping into your life as you. Coming out later in life takes an incredible amount of strength, especially when you're also balancing motherhood and everything that comes with raising two kids. Having a four-year-old and a twelve-year-old is a whole world of responsibility on its own, and I really respect that you're doing this while also protecting space for your own authenticity.

And congratulations on your upcoming FFS with Deschamps-Braly — that's a major step, and it's completely understandable to have a mix of excitement, nerves, and a thousand thoughts all at once. You're definitely not alone in that here. We have many women on the forum who've gone through FFS (including with DB), and you'll find a lot of practical experience, emotional support, and reassurance from people who truly understand what this part of the journey feels like.

Whenever you're comfortable, you're welcome to share as much or as little as you want — whether that's what led you to come out, what your support system looks like, or how you're feeling as surgery gets closer. If you'd like, we can also point you toward the best boards for FFS discussion, recovery tips, and general support for women transitioning later in life.

With love and support,
— Susan 💜

Welcome Aboard Sunbaby,

You are in the very best hands with Dr D-B... He is such a great guy to work with...I had multiple procedures with him and Dr Ousterhout.

Heyya and welcome to the forum. Hope you find it interesting and useful around here. You're a similar age to me, though very different experiences for sure as you have some children 😊
