GOP senator demands Netflix remove trans content since it doesn't align with his personal values

Vehemently anti-trans Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) went on a bizarre and inaccurate rant about trans representation on Netflix during an antitrust hearing about the company's potential acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery's studio and streaming assets.
Hawley peppered Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos with questions about why the streaming platform provides "content for children [that] promotes a transgender ideology."
He claimed "almost half" of Netflix content for young children "promotes a transgender ideology agenda," a phrase he most likely used to mean the inclusion of a trans character or the mention of being trans. Nevertheless, Sarandos said he didn't "have any idea where that number would come from" and called the statistic "inaccurate."
"I don't want my kids being pushed an agenda about their sexuality or gender identity when I have not had the opportunity first to discuss it with them and to form them in that," he said.
"My concern is that you don't share my values or those of many other American parents," he said, "and you want the United States government to allow you to become one of the largest, if not the largest, streaming monopolist in the world. I think we oughta be concerned about what content you're promoting."
Hawley also referred to trans representation as a "highly sexualized, highly controversial... agenda," a common transphobic stereotype used to imply that trans people aren't people like everyone else.

My concern is that Josh Hawley doesn't share my values or those of thousands of other American citizens, and he wants the People to allow him to represent them.
Bigots should be removed from office immediately. No impeachment. No trial. Just remove them for "breach of contract". Government exists to serve the People, not the other way around. There is no room for bigotry in any government office.

White Christian cisgender heterosexual men believe that they represent the highest level of evolution. You'll notice that any deviation from that configuration is seen as "less than" at the very least and "satanic" at the worst.
Having your little "boy" decide to "downgrade" from male to female is more than they can bear. "How could little Tommy do this to us?"
"Who or what did this to little Bryce?"
"It must have been the school"
"...video games"
"...the internet"
"...democrats"
"...TV and movies"
"Now we must disown him/her because they've hurt our family"
ANY answer other than the fact that their brain isn't wired like you thought it was is fair play.

Monopolies are not evil per se. Being a unique provider of a product or service is not bad. It is how you leverage that position that is regulated. Price-fixing or blocking any would-be competitors is a no-no.
