Commentators for NBC Sports misgendered trans skier Elis Lundholm throughout its women's moguls coverage shared on Peacock.

Lundholm, who is representing Team Sweden, has made history by being the first out transgender man to compete in the Winter Olympics, and is the second out trans male Olympian ever.

Lundholm has been competing in the women's category for the event as per International Ski Federation regulations, but uses he/him pronouns.

Despite this, commentators for NBC and Peacock repeatedly used she/her pronouns while referring to him throughout his run down the slopes.

However, NBC has since formally apologised for the misgendering incident.

Speaking to Outsports on 10 February, the broadcaster said: "NBC Sports takes this matter seriously.

"Today we streamed an international feed with non-NBCUniversal commentators who misgendered Olympian Elis Lundholm.

"We apologise to Elis and our viewers, and we have removed the replay of that feed."
