So yesterday was quite the day.
I had the chance to meet with a Therapist for the first time. I decided to talk to a therapist to start working through some issues. I have been using some AI to let some things out, and then decided to have AI put it all together into a cheat sheet book to review before showing up. I knew it would be very hard for me to open up. I came out to my mom when I was 12, and to my wife, I told her I have some gender confusion because she found a wig. Saying the words out loud... that was the scary part because it makes it real. Anyway, she let me go on for a while about family and then called out the gender stuff. I couldn't even make eye contact, but I did open up. It was harder and easier than expected. Not really sure yet. I will say I was glad I went. It was a very different feeling having someone encourage me to grow my hair out. Still processing. Too bad it was not when I first called a gender therapist at 16 and not mid-40s. I think the cheat sheet that AI did for me helped a lot. Anyway, thanks for letting me share. Long way to go.

Congratulations on seeing a therapist! That is such an important step, because it helps you to process how you feel. Good luck with it going forward.

Great to hear that you were able to take this big step in your transition. Sounds like you got some good stuff out of this despite you feeling a little reseved. Including the encouragement to grow your hair out! So happy this is looking to be some positive encouragement, to be who you really want to be in your own way.
We really love that you're happy to share with us and hope that brings you additional positivity too.

A good therapist can help you achieve some clarity of your thoughts.

I'm sorry you had to sort of forcibly come out of the closet, from what it sounds like. I'm glad you were able to meet with a therapist who's supporting you, though! How did your wife respond? Was she supportive?

Claire, that's great! This is the beginning of feeling like your true self. It all starts with allowing yourself to feel what you feel, sharing it with someone else, and seeing that it's OK.
I hope you'll continue with therapy and that it will free you to be and express yourself fully.
