Title: Leg Hair removal. What's your chosen torture method?

Curious what method everyone uses for leg hair removal?
Shave, Epilate, Wax, Laser? I would do a poll but I have no idea how to set one up! How often do you do it?
Me, I shave in the bath every three days as I love the silky smooth feeling I get from that. I could leave it a week without having visible hair but it's the feel I love. Epilating doesn't get as close for me. Waxing is painful and messy but has good results, the drawback is you need to let the hair grow in order to repeat it. Never tried laser but it sounds expensive.
What about you ladies? How do you achieve your gorgeous smooth pins?

Shave weekly and cut myself to pieces in the process! I don't have a bath so it's tricky to do. Going to keep lasering them to get rid!

Hmmm, My new place has a walk in shower instead of a bath. So when I finally get moved in I'll have to experiment with other methods. You need lots of water, shaving in the shower is a minimum I reackon. I don't use shave gels or anything but maybe you could try those? I also find mens 5 blade razors are way better than ladyshavers, much closer shave

I use gels but just wet my skin and shave in the bathroom. I don't really want to run my shower for the 20 mins it takes to shave. It's only my legs that cut. My chest, arms, back etc are all ok

Aloe Vera gel makes a nice shaving gel. Calms the skin and moisturizes naturally, too.

I would far rather have a twenty minute shower every three days than lacerated legs lol! Sounds bloody painful that does!
Why not try epilators then? They don't cut you, they can be a bit nippy when using but the pain isn't as bad as people claim, very mild really.

I have been unlucky with breast/nipple growth and fat redistribution but body hair except for my arms is mostly gone. I used to have a hairy belly but it's gone and I have no armpit hair at all anymore. As for my legs I have maybe 4 or 5 hairs on each of my legs that I will eventually get electrolysis for. As for facial hair I have had 4 laser sessions but when I empty out the shaver I see no dark hairs just grey so I'll have to switch to electrolysis soon.

Laser worked great on my body hair. It took six to eight sessions, but my electrologist takes care of the random strays that appear. There are a few 'at home' units which work, but it takes a really long time. If you have it done professionally, make sure they are using a true laser. Some places use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), which isn't much different that using a powerful camera flash. Although it will singe off the hair, it will come back in a few days. Unless you enjoy the smell of burning hair, stick with laser.

I have no belly hair (happy trail) either, no upper body hair at all really except very slow growing under arm and forearm. None of my body hair is like it was though it is lighter in colour, finer and softer. "Down there" is now a female pattern and is shorter if I let it grow (which I don't). I still have facial hair but I can go two days now without a shave and get away with it. Unfortunately I'm a natural blonde so laser is probably pointless for me. I'll need to get started on facial electrolysis before long.
4-5 leg hairs total is an amazing result!

My favourite (and only) method is Estradiol patches! Like @Athena , my body hair, including legs, reverted to female-typical quite quickly. I have no hair on my thighs. If I looked hard enough, I could probably find a few on my calves, but less than many cis women. What is there is pretty fine and hardly visible at all. There is certainly not enough to be worth doing anything about.
The dozen or so chest hairs that I had when I started are long gone, and my armpit hair has thinned out a lot. The only places I have hair that bothers me are my nostrils and my neck. I could have continued facial electrolysis for the neck hair, but she was having trouble zapping them dead, and after five years, I had had enough.

I kind of like shaving as I find it relaxing and afirming but I can see me eventually getting tired of it I suppose.

I just shave once a day. Its kind of my routine and ritual. Def feels affirming. I know no matter how the day went, when I shower and get cleaned up for the night I at least have that time to feel feminine no matter what.

Funny coincidence, seeing this thread because I happened to be looking at my legs this morning and I realized that the months of hair that have grown since I last shaved are (a) limited to below my knees and (b) have about 20% of their previous density. HRT is amazing.
I have zero hair growth anywhere else except slow-growing underarm hair and a modest patch in my bikini area. And my face, of course - working on that.

Hi Everyone
TL:DR
Waxing.
Your Choice
Reality Check
My Situation Was
I tried shaving my legs once, it was time consuming and awkward. I never waxed them myself. I had my legs waxed professionally and it was part of my routine to have them done regularly. If the hairs were too long I would wear stockings, which I did while I worked and that was another reason why I had my legs waxed professionally.
Eventually I noticed the hairs were fine and seemed to break off at the surface when being waxed. The end result I forgot about the hairs on my legs. These days I cannot see the hairs. I need a magnifying lens to see them. The hairs are very fine or vellus type and I guess this is the end result of waxing and most definitely the results of HRT.
As for laser or IPL, I will leave that to you ladies as they were before my time.
Best Wishes Always

Waxing.
Your Choice
| Method | Regrowth | Normal | Time (min.) | Cost (AUD) |
| Shaving | 1 to 3 days | 10 to 14 days | 10 to 20 | $0 to $2 |
| Waxing | 2 to 3 weeks | 4 to 6 weeks | 20 to 45 | $30 to $80 |
- Quick shave: about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Normal full leg shave: about 10 to 20 minutes.
- Careful, smooth result: can push 20+ minutes.
- Regrowth: when hair first becomes noticeable again by touch or sight.
- Normal: when hair has returned to its usual length and coverage and looks as it did before removal.

I have used blades, epilators, electric razors, creams, and I have two different IPL machines. The epilators (Epilady brand) worked the best as they are similar to waxing. It takes a while for the hair to stop coming back, but it does work.
Now the hair comes back slowly and very sparsely. I just use the cream (Nair) now. I apply it while I do other hygiene stuff, then take a shower. After I dry off, I put on some moisturizing cream, and I am all set for a few weeks.
It doesn't take much time this way. In winter, I can go a couple of months, since my legs stay covered and hair regrowth is hard to see. Now that it's getting into shorts season, I'll do it more often.

ILP. I have 2 different models/brands and I used them long before HRT and they did wonders for my darker hairs. Not so well on the chest hairs that had already turned gray but there were not so many of those. I have not needed to use the ILP for many years now (5+).
Now between the ILP and HRT, I have to shave about once a month just to get some stragglers. My leg's always feel smooth which is very important for my wellbeing. I find harry legs very triggering.
I shave under my arms about once every 6 months. I'll occasionally find a very fine blond long hair under there and then I just run a razor in the area with a little soap in the shower. Chest is kind of the same except I notice the blond hairs a little sooner and I do the same with a razor. A little soapy water and a few quick swipes.
ILP was one of the best things I did. It a big commitment, lots of hours repeated over the course of a year or so. The lens on the ILP is small and you need to cover a large and that takes time. then you need to repeat because hair grows in cycles so there will be some that are "dormant" that you will need to get when they come in, in about 3 months after the initial treatment. Then there will be stragglers that will need to be treated again.
Then once a year for the next 2 or 3 years you may need to touch up a bit. But now I seldom think about body hair.
The only place I have body hair is on my arms. I usually have too much of a tan year round for the ILP to work. Every once in awhile I'll run a razor over my arms in the shower but my arm hair is fine and light colored so it really doesn't bother me much.
For me anyway, all those hours with the ILP was well worth the time.

AH yes I forgot about the hair removal cream as well. Again, messy for me. I'm not keen on the smell either though it might have changed nowadays, it's been a long time since I used it.
Sarah, 20 mins to shave your legs? I can do a thorough shave in about 5-10 mins tops. Guess it's because it's part of my routine.
My lower leg hairs definitely grow faster than my thighs. In fact I can't ever see any on my thighs but they do feel smoother when I shave them and that's what I'm after rather than the look. I could probably go 1-2 weeks before the overall leg hair is visible as I have light hair.

I have shaved my legs for almost 30 years.
I did this mostly for cycling so they were hairless even when I wasn't dressing.
Years of having to wear heavy industrial clothing has warn away most of the regowth so it's really only once a week shaving.
I've had 2 laser sessions on my face and I love the fact the dark shadow is already reducing. Sadly there is a lot of grey there but shaving does make my face smoother than I can ever remember.
My bikini has had 8 laser sessions so there are only a few grays now in front and back.
Everywhere else is shaved and my eyebrows now are getting waxed and thinned professionally.

Hair removal. Ugh. A chore that I loathe. The less time spent the better.
As Wile E Coyote discovered, the Acme catalog is filled with contraptions for torturing it's users. First I hacked my skin countless times with an Acme razor. Then I burned it *exactly once* with Acme depilatory goo. Ouch! Then there was the Acme rotary tweezer depilation gadget that literally rips hair by the root. Masochistically, I became enamored with this torture device because of it's longer lasting results. Not ideal, but 2-3 weeks beats 2-3 days. I'll not talk about the many ingrowns.
After years of torment, I discovered the dermatology clinic at UCSD Healthcare. With their state-of-the-art lasers, my body hair was banished forever. That was in 2018. No regrowth. No time wasted on hair removal. Nirvana!

It sucks having to get rid of any hair anywhere.
I was a lather of sweat after my last facial laser session.
It was quite embarrasing the amount I was sweating.
It hurt a bit but the pain isn't so bad, it's just the sudden stings.
The young lady looking after me was really empathetic.
I'm sure I have another person who knows what I am.
Despite the pain, I walked out euphoric.
The pad and cream I used to clean my face was covered with black ejected hairs, and after shaving the next day my face hasn't been smoother since I was a child.
I know I'm going to be stuck with grey regrowth, but for now the lack of dirty shadow on my face is really making me happy

I usually just lather them up with shaving cream and shave after showering. I usually do the bottom part. The thighs are a little trickier but I shave them usually during the warmer seasons when I wear shorter things.
I think HRT helped to thin the hair out a little.

After lots of practice, I'm a pro leg shaver. In the bath is easiest but the shower works, too. Five minutes in the bath but mind you, I'm not very hairy, though also not on HRT.

Plus a trope has been around forever of a woman shaving in a bathtub. Too often I rush through it, but I've learned it's utterly blissful to work slowly. Apply the shaving cream slowly. Feel with my body and hands what it's like. Move the blade slowly and feel it. Such a feminine and sensory experience.

I'm lucky to have no leg or arm hair but I do still run a lady shave over them once in a while.
For those of you with showers not baths*, the Venus Glide gel shaves are nice. I use the Comfort Glide Spa Breeze ones. These things, or other brand equivalents:

* By which I mean that they're really silky smooth even if you're not in the bath

I was prone to razor rash if shaving and also had issues using hair removal cream. Waxing / epilating caused in grown hairs when regrowing. So for me the only solution was laser.
I did laser a couple years ago with great amount of success. I think it removed at least 95% and the remaining hairs are very fine and barely noticeable.

I tried Nair early on but the smell of it sickens me. I am glad someone is posting that HRT has helped resolve how much hair they are having to deal with. I was going to say this thought I've read hair is not changed by HRT but it clearly has at least in my case. I'm not keen on body hair anywhere (but my head) so I groom a lot. I've discovered that Hair Conditioners make a very slippery shaving gel (sort of) Shaving creams just don't work as well for me. I got a laser! I keep meaning to let what hair is left grow out enough to use it but... Whats better then a hot bath and shaving really isn't a chore I guess.

I've used some harsh products seeking beauty but none are as evil as Nair and the like. I shattered it on and endured burning sensations for the recommended time. Virtually no hair came off and my skin hated me. We are still negotiating a truce.
I would like to try laser but it's pretty expensive and I'm sure for me it would be painful.
