Hi everyone,
It's been a long time since I was last here around 2016 or so. I don't have access to that account anymore but some of the post are still there, and honestly, I wasn't very active back then. Mostly just reading, trying to understand myself, and quietly relating to other people's posts.
A lot has happened since then, but in some ways it also feels like I've been circling the same place for years.
I've been dealing with these feelings for a long time, and I've tried pretty hard to ignore them or push them down. I kept hoping it would just go away or become manageable, but that hasn't really worked. If anything, it's just gotten heavier over time.
Right now I feel kind of stuck in between like I'm not really living as myself, but also can't go back to pretending this isn't part of me. Some days it just feels like I'm going through the motions.
I'm still figuring things out, and I don't really know what my path looks like yet. I think I'm here because I need a place where I don't have to hide from this, and where I can learn from people who understand.
So... I guess this is a bit of a re-introduction.

My name is Sarah and I would also like to formally, Welcome you Back to Susan's Place!
I see that other members of Susan's have also welcomed you back as well.
It's really lovely to see you back here. Reading your introduction brought back a lot of familiar feelings.
I actually stepped away from Susan's myself back in 2012 and didn't return until early 2024, so I understand what it's like to be away for a long time and then find your way back again. Like you, this place was where I first started to really understand myself, even if at the time it was mostly reading, contributing and taking things in.
You probably already know this, but those feelings you have been carrying don't tend to disappear. If anything, they come back stronger over time. Many people here have shared that same experience, so you are definitely not alone in what you are going through.
I also noticed you had a bit of trouble getting back into your account. Lori and Danielle really helped you out immensely and that is very much in the spirit of this place. I was away at the time enjoying some R&R, but I know they did a wonderful job in getting you back in.
As to you saying, you are "pretending", I would say you are not. Seeing your avatar its nice to see some competition here, Danielle's smile versus your smile. Seriously your smile tells me you are a very happy women. Let me relate your position to mine. My past life is a part of me and I accept it whole hardheartedly. I changed my life around in 1989 and continued living my life as me regardless of what I did before and what I have done since. I did not plan anything seriously it was very superficial. My whole life to say has just been living and that fact alone does not change with anyone or another way of saying it is, "life goes on".
Living your life at the moment is "not pretending", you are you, you are real. As for what you want to do in the future that is up to you and the only thing to keep in mind is to be happy and if anything you do makes you happy then just do it.
As for hiding, again let me relate that "hiding" to myself. I have always kept this part of my life or "medical condition" private that means nobody knows and I don't tell anyone either, well except for my family. Yet I do not consider that "hiding" I'm just living my life just like any other female in society. Yes there are the good times and the not so good times but as I have basically said "life goes on". Here on Susan's is were I'm able to discuss certain aspects of my life and pass on the knowledge that I have gained. So coming here you are amongst others who understand where you are coming from. You can relate your experiences to others, learn from theirs and vent if needed. Then I guess you know that!
It's genuinely good to have you back.
Once you feel comfortable here, it would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads. I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new about new members
