Anti-LGBTQ+ entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy won his Republican primary last night in the race to become Ohio's next governor. He won roughly 82% of the vote over his challenger, Republican candidate Casey Putsch. Now, Vivek will face his Democratic opponent, Democrat Dr. Amy Acton, in November's general election.

Ramaswamy worked as a biotech entrepreneur and rose to prominence through his criticisms of left-wing identity politics in his books, at right-wing gatherings, and on Fox News. The president endorsed his gubernatorial campaign, which could become a liability in November, amid the president's sinking approval ratings.

He ran on a platform of rolling back property taxes in the state, implementing merit-based pay for educators, using public taxpayer funds to finance private and charter schools, empowering religious organizations to offer mental health services, and consolidating or closing public universities.

Ramaswamy's campaign website states, "As Governor, Vivek will bring people together around shared values, not partisan divides. He will restore a political culture where we can respectfully disagree, while still seeing each other as neighbors, friends, and fellow citizens."

Ramaswamy considers trans identity to be a mental disorder and sees the LGBTQ+ rights movement as a "cult" that oppressively imposes its belief on children and wants to "force everyone else to bend the knee to [its] confused belief system."
