Title: Hats
Post by: Stottie Girl on May 16, 2026, 11:19:12 AM
What is everyone's opinion when it comes to hats? What casual styles are good for long hair and for slightly warmer weather? Do you even bother? I quite like the idea of a beret type hat.

If it was winter then a furry pompom bobble hat would be my thing but it's far too hot for that.

I have a couple cowboy hats I wear when I'm building fences and I have a winter dress cowboy hat. That I don't get to wear to often.
If I'm running late to work I will grab a truckers hat just to keep my hair under control.
At work it's a hardhat. Those are fun in the summer.

I feel you hard hat pain Kellie, been there!

Could they just as easily be Cowgirl hats?

Yes they could. One hat works for both. Though some of the cowgirl hats are real cute. Mine are just plain

Is a black bobble hat, without a black bobble, really a black bobble hat?🤣🤣

Yeah, I think those Russians might be onto something with those hats like!

Not for fashion, but for sun protection I will wear hats to protect my face.

I like to wear beanies in cold weather.

Normally don't wear one, but like Chrissy for sun protection or if the wind is too much. Just a standard baseball cap and run all the hair through the eyelet above the snapback to keep some control of it. 💚

I conjecture that must be a Bobble hat that is black.

LOL

Bobble not Bobbie however a quick google for a bobbie hat does seem to be the same thing. Never heard of a bobbie hat before well except that a policemans helmet could be a bobbies hat I suppose!

It's like a knitted warm beanie hat with a pom pom on the top.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Thank you for the clarification oh Wise One😀😀

My go-to hat is just a baseball cap.

Prospecting in the sun, I wear I wide-brim safari-style hat to protect my face and neck from the sun.

In winter, I have a couple of beanies, some with bobbles, and some not.
One says U.S. Army, one is pink with the pom-pom, and one is black.

I like the beanies when it's cold or windy (it stays on better). But I wear the baseball cap almost year-round.

I don't wear hats much.  It is too hard to keep them in place on top of my wig.  I have one nice sun hat that fits over my wig that I'll sometimes wear.

But I do wear hats any time I am wigless.  If I'm out in the yard, I most often wear a ball cap.  For hiking, I wear a rain/sun hat with a brim all the way around.  In winter, I wear a tuque.  (I think that's what you call a "bobble hat".)  Of course, if I am outside wearing a hat, it has to stay on.  One time, we made a spur of the moment decision to have a restaurant meal.  I had to keep my tuque on through the meal.  Fortunately, women can get away with that.

I'm thinking of going to a wig. But currently I style my curly hair as best as I can, though it's thinning. It looks ok from the front but I've lost hair on top and hate it. I want a hat that is acceptable to wear inside. I'm thinking of a beret. Any other ideas? A cute fedora?

Your hair looks very nice from your pictures Krista, it would be a shame to cut it off for a wig, I don't find them very comfortable and can't wait to ditch mine when I can. If you have the funds maybe a hair transplant would be a good option?

Some of my wigs are Toppers. In the summer, a full wig can be way too hot. The toppers are better-ventilated and clip in to cover the top (think women's toupee). Since I am missing hair at the front, I use wig tape instead of clips, and the back just clips in place.

They are available in varying lengths. My avatar is a topper with my natural hair sticking out from beneath it. I have curly hair too, so I have to straighten it to blend in with the topper.
