I've been on HRT for a fair while and have noticed a big increase in how many freckles I have and how visible they are.
Is this to do with HRT? Has anyone else noticed this? I'm not complaining, I quite like them but there has been a big increase in their visibility on my face neck and arms. Just curious really.

Yes, HRT, especially estrogen-based treatments, can darken existing freckles or make dormant freckles easier to see.
Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen.
I sound like my own dermatologist, but I know the risks. (I have had 8 skin cancers removed). Estrogen affects sensitivity to UV light, and, of course, natural aging doesn't help. It is not just freckles either. Other brown patches, we called "age spots" or "liver spots," can also appear.

Yes I have a few of those too, thank god for concealer!
That's good to know Lori! An unexpected benefit then, nice!
I live in northern England, we rarely see the sun ha ha! No, I take your point. I used to work a lot outdoors but never wore shorts (except on my bike) as a result my forearms and face go brown but the rest of me is milkbottle white. I will need to start using SPF cream as female clothing reveals a lot more skin. I have been looking at using a tinted moisturiser instead of foundation. That comes with SPF30 protection.

Freckles can be very cute! Especially on redheads!

I don't really have freckles, but my skin is fairly light-sensitive. I have been a regular sunscreen user since before it was popular. I have some "liver spots" on the backs of my hands, and I had one skin cancer removed from my forehead.
When I started my transition, I tried laser hair removal in addition to electrolysis. But my skin reacted to the laser light, and the technician told me to stop. I now have a nice square giant "freckle" on my cheek the size and shape of the laser probe. It is easy to cover it with makeup, but I got out of the habit of using makeup during covid, and never got back into it.
