Amidst Idaho's ban on rainbow flags flying on government property, residents of the capital city of Boise are doing everything they can to show their pride.
A grassroots group called Pride North End has come together to distribute as many flags and yard signs as possible to folks who will show them off in their own yards. The group has already over 250 flags and 900 yard signs, according to CBS2 Boise. Despite an initial GoFundMe campaign goal of $2,000, the group has raised over $10,000. The group will donate any funds not used during the month to distribute flags and signs to LGBTQ+ nonprofits.
"We cannot just say something without doing something that proves that we mean what we say," said North End resident Edna Schochat.
The city typically flies Pride flags on lampposts along the historic Harrison Boulevard during Pride Month, but in April 2025, the state passed a law banning any flags other than official government flags from flying on government property. Boise – which had flown the Pride flag from city hall for 10 years – did its best to get around the law by designating the Pride flag as an official city flag. But Republicans responded with an update to that law, adding language and fines that the city couldn't circumvent.
Nevertheless, city officials have persisted in celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. In April, just days after Gov. Brad Little (R) signed the updated law to banish Boise's Pride flag once and for all, the city unveiled vinyl wraps featuring the Progress Pride flag colors on the building's three flagpoles.

I love this!
Vinyl wraps are not flags. Florida painted over the Rainbow sidewalks, and the flags came out.
The VA banned posters, flags, and anything related to DEI. So for every appointment, I wear about five or six Pride pins. Stick that in your waterpipe and smoke it!

That's the beauty of laws and rules. Write them down and they mean exactly what they say. Everything they don't say is fair game.
