A federal judge issued a scathing ruling against the Trump administration as it tried to get Stanford University's hospital to turn over the private medical records of transgender minors.

"The disclosure of such information would also 'out' provisional class members as transgender to a federal government that for more than a year has 'sought to identify, to demonize, and ultimately to eradicate an entire population of transgender people,'" U.S. District Court Judge P. Casey Pitts, a Joe Biden appointee, wrote in his opinion when issuing a preliminary injunction against the Department of Justice's (DOJ) attempt to get the records.

"Such disclosure and the attendant loss of privacy, chilling of doctor-patient communications, and risk of governmental harassment cannot be undone."

The case, Z.A. v. Blanche, involves the DOJ's subpoena of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, which is affiliated with Stanford University. The Trump administration has been attempting to get hospitals across the country to hand over the private medical records of trans kids in what some judges have called a "fishing expedition" intended to "harass" and "intimidate" as part of an effort to end gender-affirming care through "fear."

This evil orange blob is just stunning. Why do some of us here (on Susan's) support him? Oh yeah, it's because they're lied to on a daily basis and they have no idea what's going on. This...right here...this is the tip of the iceberg. The corruption is arguably just as bad. Unnecessary wars, selling us out to billionaires, blatantly racist policies (not just immigration) are happening on a daily basis and still, they support him. Many of them are also racists and they're just here for that...because he's a white guy and "that's who should run this country, not a black man or (gasp) a woman." Many think the Confederate soldiers in the Civil War were heroes because they were "fighting for what they believed in" which was the right to own other humans.

They don't read much, mainly scripture. They get their "news" from TV personalities who tell them how they feel about (portions of) what's happening, rather than just reading the news, like they did before Reagan repealed the Fairness Doctrine (thanks, Ronnie).

They're mad at people who read a lot and maybe go to college because they get all "woke" and stuff, probably from those woke liberal college professors, right? WRONG. People become more progressive when they learn about history, about sociology, about law, about race in America and the history of racism. They don't want to do all of that, so they dismiss progressive people as libt@@ds who have been brainwashed, when people who learn things are much more open-minded than they are.

I used to be a republican.

The strongest and most likely supporters are 4th or 5th generation white folks who feel to their core that the country belongs to them because their people were here first. My grandparents arrived on boats at the turn of the century. My people have just as much a right to be here as they do...and just as much as a 20 year old hispanic person who was born here and who works hard to make a life for themself.

trump is the hero of the misinformed and the willfully ignorant. I'm so frustrated. I can't wait for this nightmare to end. But I hope he's able to finish out his term so we can just begin to feel the effects of what he's done rather than blame it on the next person to come into office, as we always do.
