Title: How to Ignore

I have been here 16 years and recently found the need to block posts from a specific individual.
It is a simple process:
1. Decide you need not see more content from another member.
2. From most pages in the upper left corner you will you will see your Avatar and/or user name
punctuated with a down arrow.
3. Click on it to open up you user menu.
4. Left Column, two up from the bottom is "Ignore List".
5. Click again on that option. It will open an add to Ignore List Option. (scroll if necessary)
6. Bottom of that window is a Member rectangle. Put the member name there.
7. Click the ADD button. You should see the name populate on your previously empty Ignore List.
8. You can then browse in peace!
9. Should you wish to again enter a fray, you can unblock or edit the list to your amusement.
Step 10: Thank our moderators who do such an amazing job that it took me 1.6 decades to find this need.
notes:
I use Edge in Windows, if your browser display slightly differently, keep clicking or ask for help.
I would be remiss in not pointing out you add buddies in the same window. Friends are always valuable.
You can also ignore other things.
I did not find a NO DOOM SCROLLING option that applied to the balance of my usage.
Self control remains a useful tool.

Thank you for posting this. 🙂
We (the staff) don't have the luxury of using this feature. I have done it before I was a moderator and the software blocked the text of the person that you ignored, but still showed you that they had posted. Which only served to make me think "What has this knucklehead said now?" and subsequently disabling the block. 🤣
Also, I recall that if someone quoted the person you have on Ignore, their post shows up in the quote. But that was then and this is now, the software may have been improved.
Thaks again for creating this topic. 🙂
Hugs, Devlyn
PS: If it's me you put on Ignore, I've done a bunch of typing for nothing. 😂

Imagine if we could switch on an ignore button in real life? That would be awesome LOL.

The process is the same on an iPhone browser.

I'm shocked anyone on here has been saying things that needed blocking to be honest (maybe that means it's me who's getting ignored!) but useful information if needed.
So far I've never felt bad about what anyone has said on here. I find you all to be some of the most friendly and supportive souls I've ever interacted with.

This is my current experience. It doesn't block the way I'd like it to. I'd rather not see that the person has posted at all, so I've removed the block.

@Northern Star Girl or @Susan might be able to find a plugin or mod to get around that.

I have not seen anybody say anything directly rude. My experience is that people reply to things I say with incredible warmth and sensitivity.

But people, especially women, are taught to trust their instincts. One person says some things that just felt wrong. It was like I was walking down the street and saw somebody, and I didn't want to judge them, but I didn't want to walk by them either. That is the only person I've ignored or even considered ignoring.

Yeah. I've been here on and off for 20 years and I never even thought about it. It seems silly.
