Title: Trans Camp?
Post by: tammy753 on August 20, 2026, 03:51:26 PM
So I have been subscribing to a lot of trans topics on instagram, I promised I would never join a social media site but my therapist thinks I isolate my self. I have no idea where she gets these crazy ideas, everyone can go months without talking to another person right?

Any way I found this: https://transcamp.org

Has any one head of this and is it legit? I am intrigued.

Hmmmm....if that is, like, rustic camping, count me out. Granted, I haven't actually looked through the site yet. I gave up camping when I was 22 or 23. I enjoyed it in the past. But going to the bathroom in the woods is an absolute no-go. NOW? Oh, hell no. I can't even pee outside now. I tried that once, and I whizzed all over my legs. LOL Yuck.

I have not heard of that one. I have a cousin who managed an LGBTQ Campground in Pennsylvania. They had events every weekend, including drag shows, Tiki Night, dances, and other social events. It looked like a lot of fun.

I have been banned from four social media sites and have not had an account for over five years. I find them toxic and full of misinformation. I don't miss them at all.

My stress levels are lower now, so I disagree with your therapist.

Looks legit and it's in CA, so I'm in if I can find an event for me that fits my schedule.

I agree with Lori Dee. I spend very little time on social media and have narrowed down who sees my Facebook for what little I post on it to ensure only those I truly trust see it. I can understand for some that social media may give you a much needed outlet when other social options are lacking. Hugs

I agree it is toxic. I just keep my self in a small bubble and this lets me interact with the world in a small way. I do find I end up scrolling a lot.

I also followed a lot of bands that I love and they post clips of new songs and things like that.

As For Trans Camp I think its interesting and as someone who lives in a red state places where I can be myself without judgement are very appealing.

I need some social media interaction or I'd only ever talk with my partner to any depth ever. Very occasionally chat to work colleagues, but not much. Would drive me crazy!

Yes social media can definitely be toxic. If one spends too much time on it you can easily see your mental health go down the drain. I think it's ok in moderation and you also need to be very selective on what you read because that feeds the algorithm of what you will see more of.
